Terry Eagleton is Distinguished Professor of English Literature at the Lancaster University, and former Thomas Warton Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford and John Edward Taylor Professor of English Literature at the University of Manchester. He has written more than 40 books, including Literary Theory: An Introduction (1983) The Ideology of the Aesthetic (1990), Why Marx Was Right (2011) and The Event of Literature (2012).
