Colton Harris-Moore, the infamous 20-year-old “Barefoot Bandit” who has managed to evade police while stealing planes, boats, and cars over the past two years, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday. He pleaded guilty to 17 counts in California, adding to his earlier pleas to federal charges in Seattle. He will serve time for those crimes in conjunction with his state charges, starting early next year. The so-called "Barefoot Bandit" earned international fame after he flew a stolen plane from Indiana to the Bahamas in July 2010 and crashed it in a Bahamian swamp, where he was immediately arrested. His escapades landed him a movie deal with 20th Century Fox and Academy Award-winning director Dustin Lance Black that could be worth up to $1.3 million. Federal law has prohibited Harris-Moore from collecting any of the film’s profits.
