Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig announced Thursday that the league will undergo significant changes in the 2013 season. Two wild-card spots will be added, one to the American League and one to the National League. That would necessitate some changes in the way the postseason is structured, too, and an MLB committee so far favors a one-game playoff among the wild-card teams, since there will be two in each league. MLB owners also unanimously approved air-freight businessman Jim Crane as the Houston Astros' new owner. Crane will shift the Astros to the AL in 2013, creating two 15-team leagues.
