A random reference to Dolly Parton's "Hard Candy Christmas" reminded me how much I love "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." That's where you can find Parton singing that and more—wearing a negligee and less—along with the bevy of underdressed lovelies who populate the Chicken Ranch (based on an actual Texan house of ill-repute). You can also find a rather strapping Burt Reynolds, but more than that the songs are fantastic. I prefer the original cast album but it's all great, especially for anyone who's ever tried on frilly lingerie and danced secretly before the mirror (I'm just going to imagine Rod Blagojevich there, because somehow it matches the hair). Also, a naked shower scene! You're welcome. |
