![]() Kate Christensen's latest novel, Trouble, about a rock star and therapist who run off to Mexico to escape fallout from their sexual adventures, doesn't appear until this June, which means you have plenty of time to read the four previous ones before it shows up in bookstores. If you're like me, you'll race through all of them over a single weekend, and then babble on Talk of the Nation about how amazing they are and argue with your friends about which one is best. Wrongly dismissed for years as the work of a lightweight, Christensen's hilarious and cynical and very smart fiction finally got some recognition last year when she was awarded the PEN/Faulkner. (She and I have become friends recently, but I've been crazy about her work for a few years now.) |

Maud, thank you so much for championing Kate Christensen, both here and on your own blog. As a bookseller, I consider her one of my pet projects. The Epicure's Lament is one of the great underrated books of our time.
Thank you.
