 I recommend the band Girl in a Coma. This San Antonio-based band is made up of sisters Nina and Phanie Diaz and bassist Jenn Alva. I am absolutely in love with their album Both Before I’m Gone, my favorite songs are Mr. Chivalry and Their Cell. Their music is both beautifully melodic and rock infused all at the same time. Their new album drops June 2nd and I’m sure they will soon be a household name! |

If they have to be the 178,000th band to shamelessly steal a Smiths' song title for their band name, they can't be that good.
Anybody that names himself after a fictitious three headed flying monster who thinks just because they thought they recognized a reference to one of the greatest bands ever as a band name, well they can't be that smart. I guess some Kings are bigger than others.

KingGhidorah why don't you go on youtube and listen to some of there music. I find Meghan McCain is right on the money. I live close to San Antonio and am so happy she showcased them, they are fantastic and I can not wait to go see them. They stand out among a lot of bands in this area, because the bands in this area are either 'Americana" or "Hard rock". Their music is a refreshing change from what we normally hear.

KingGhidorah, they actually are good. The Moz himself asked them to tour with him.
They named themselves that in homage to him. As in "they are the girlfriend in said coma"
And TheMexicutioner, I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. While Kings of Leon may be quite talented I think this rock trio is a tad bit more original.
Haha, come on now. "Sex on Fire" is a wildly original track, divergent from previous rock archetypes.
Girl in a Coma seems cool; lead singer's voice reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on though. Neko Case maybe?
Girl in a Coma's new album, Trio B.C., is even better than the debut in my opinion. They are taking on some new styles and their musicianship has improved noticeably.
For all of you looking for some truly original, I would suggest West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum by Kasabian. Best psychedelic, pop, dance record to come out since the old Madchester days. Possibly record of the year (pending the new Arctic Monkeys and Editors releases).
