A few weeks ago I learned of skirt!, an amazing free magazine unlike anything I've ever seen. Once you read one issue, you'll want more! Geared toward women (and read by men too), it's currently in many cities (like Boston, Charleston and Ventura/Santa Barbara). Those lucky enough to get their local monthly fix know skirt! is a creative, hip, smart, funny, empowering and honest read. The rest of us can subscribe, or choose the eco-friendly option by reading skirt! online. Skirt! is my healthy addiction! |

I just learned about The Girl Effect - an initiative to make a difference in the lives of 600 million girls in developing countries who live in poverty, ultimately creating bigger change in the world. Intrigued, I clicked on the site, and am incredibly moved by the powerful opening video - it's a must-see that makes you want to take action! This holiday season, whether it's this initiative or something else close to your heart, make a donation and give the gift that truly keeps on giving to humanity as a whole. |

Watching The Business of Being Born—a documentary produced by Ricki Lake and directed by Abby Epstein—my eyes were opened WIDE. This amazing film takes you on a journey exploring the big business of birth in the United States. It's brutally honest in every way from the experiences of moms-to-be, doctors and midwives that deliver our little bundles of joy into this world. It's a must see if you ever thought hospitals were the best place to give birth, as well as if you're considering having the baby at home. |
