David Beckham does more than just look ridiculously good in underwear on television. The soccer legend announced today that he will bring an expansion franchise to Miami that will start playing in 2016 or 2017. Beckham retired from the LA Galaxy, but he had an option in his contract to purchase his own team below-market for $25 million. "I wanted to create a team that we could start from scratch," Beckham said. "I know this city is ready for football—soccer—this time around." Beckham will have to charm some investors for a stadium, but he's already gearing up. His group—Miami Beckham United—has already hired a Tallahassee lobbyist to seek sales-tax rebates.
