Not only did the White House offer Joe Sestak a job, but the White House used Bill Clinton make the pitch. This is latest twist since Sestak revealed that he had been offered a prominent advisory position in exchange for not challenging Senator Arlen Specter in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary. Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had Clinton approach Sestak with the idea of an unpaid position. The White House confirms that Clinton probed whether "Sestak would be interested in service on a Presidential or other Senior Executive Branch Advisory Board." It says that reports Sestak was offered secretary of the Navy are "false," while asserting that "The Democratic Party leadership had a legitimate interest in averting a divisive primary fight," and "such discussions are fully consistent with the relevant law and ethical requirements."
