An Italian anti-terrorism raid rounded up 18 suspects allegedly linked to al Qaeda—including at least two who may have been Osama bin Laden's bodyguards. The "vast" raid covered seven provinces, including on the island of Sardinia. According to Italian authorities, the others are suspected of involvement with a 2009 attack in Pakistan, human trafficking, and other offenses.
