The death toll from a Friday explosion at a sports complex in the town of Lakki Marwat has risen to 95 as more bodies are pulled from the rubble. The bombing, assumed to be retaliation for anti-Taliban activity in the area, occurred during a volleyball game when a pickup truck filled with explosives drove into a wall; the intended target is thought to have been a meeting of an anti-Taliban militia in a nearby mosque. As rescue efforts continue, many wonder if the attack will demoralize the local opposition, or if the militias will continue to fight the Taliban: "The dynamics currently are that people have understood the fact that Taliban militants have broken the social ethos of Pashtun society," says anaylst Abdul Basit.
