Why this life long registered Democrat is proud to vote for John McCain.
On the Economy. McCain wants to lower business taxes and keep the jobs here. Obama wants to raise taxes on any business making over $250,000 per year. In Pennsylvania, we spend more money on economic development than any state in the country and we are always near the bottom on job creation and retention. Small businesses create 3 out of every 4 new jobs in this country. Government does not create jobs in the private sector.
Balance of Power. Having the Presidency & Congress controlled by the same political party is a recipe for disaster!!! Look at the first 6 years of Bush's and Lyndon ("we make the money, we'll just print more") Johnson's administrations. Experience/Leadership/the Deficit. Obama has NEVER stood up to his own party. John McCain has consistently stood up for what is right. Which candidate is more likely to reign in the excessive spending of our federal government? I would never expect my child to pay for my mistakes, but isn't that exactly what our National Debt does to future generations?
Anyone who has lived through the Hell of being a prisoner of war has NOTHING to prove!!! John McCain deserves your vote!!!
Dear Larry, John has plenty to prove. I wish Barack had asked him for any decent explanation of his new economic plan or any plan. I get the feeling he just reads what he is given. Can he even write for himself. My wife says that all Presidential Candidates should have to pass a civil service test before being eligible to run for President. Bush would have failed and we would have been better off for it.
Best Regards,
Mark
I listened to Dennis Miller spout about McCain being a pow for 2 yrs and being offered an early release and he refused. Spoken like someone who does not know military code of conduct. Although unlikely(mccain being an Admiral's son)but McCain could have been brought up on charges . Had McCain bumped ahead of others who were there before him he could face military censure on returning home. In those days the military was stricter on their officers than they are today. That is why the old warrior waited until leaving the Navy to shed the crippled wife and trade up. Divorce was a sure way not to advance in those days. Just a little knowledge to educate you non military types.
I don;lt get what the big deal is about opposing your own party. (I mean, I get it, but in this case it''s not such a big deal). The idea that you should oppose your own party is a much bigger deall when your party s blowing it big time. Obama gets more credit for opposing McCain's party than McCain does. It's a lagniappe along with the overall package of a candidate, like saying "oh do you brush TWICE a day?" McCain emphasises that he is not so in tune with his party, so where IS his consensus? It's okay to march to a different drummer, but usually you are marching with a much smaller band...
regarding Joe the Plumber. I believe it was a very bad example to hold up this guy as the poor downtrodden citizen having a hard time making a living. My former employer, a doctor, used to fix the plumbing in our medical clinic because the plumber charged more than his medical fees were. I would have expected a better example than that, especially when many women who own businesses in this country deserve a better share of the pie in this dwindling economy. Hillary would have looked out for us!

Have you ever once thought of the Vietnamese "who has lived (and died) through the Hell of being" bombed by John McCain? If he lived through hell, please tell me what word you would use to describe what the Vietnamese lived through.
In reading the responses to my post, I think of the old adage that sometimes people get what they deserve. As for me, I am retired comfortably & what Obama proposes will greatly benefit me, but hurt the vast majority of Americans.
I wonder if he is elected, will you be singing his praises for long?
LarryBrown said: "I wonder if he is elected, will you be singing his praises for long?"
Larry, I disagree with Barack Obama on several issues, as I have, over the years, with my own children. He has a brilliant mind, but I think I understand the issues regarding Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan a whole lot better. To this day, I fail to understand what Afghanistan did to the USA. The President asked the Taliban to hand over Osama bin Laden. The Taliban said "Show us the evidence." The US responded with bombs. Meanwhile, when Cuba and Venezuela requests the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles, they are both ignored, while Posada walks the streets of Miami a free man.
But back to the current elections. I have weighed both sides and, since I have absolutely no doubt that Obama will do a far better job than McCain ever could, yes, I do sing his praises. Just as you are singing the praises for McCain.
You see, when that phone rings at 3 AM, I want Sarah Palin out shooting moose somewhere in Alaska.
I happen to trust Obama. And you don't. I am sure he will do a better job than McCain. You don't. Let's talk in four years!
well you might say i am a jfk guy, as i shook his hand when i was 5, i will never forget the day he was shot, i guess thats the day i gave up on our goverment, and then bobby, that finalised it for me. by no means am i someone to complain about the nimrods that have lead this country since then, as i have not voted for anyone, although i have had a change of heart since froud ,i mean ford , has brought this country down, i am 50 now and have 2 grandkids, and fear for there future, i really wanted clinton in office, as i got to shake bills hand, and really like his wife, anyhow i will be climbing on this wagon, and hope the @#@&*(goverment does not interfear with the new president barack !!
" Anyone who has lived through the Hell of being a prisoner of war has NOTHING to prove!!! John McCain deserves your vote!!! "
That's like saying 'Anyone who lost a feet has nothing to prove!" (one exclamation point, only one, we got your point).
I agree with you on this, really, being a POW makes you an expert in economy, healthcare, education, foreign&domestic policy. It's like attending Harvard, only better.
I get your point, McCain doesn't need the prove that he can pilot a plane anymore. He proved several times before he's unable. 3 crashes in time of peace. 1 crash during the war. From where I come not crashing your plane proves something. Crashing your plane repeatedly proves something else.
Wow! Just wanted to thank Tina for expanding the entire conversation regarding Hillary and Sarah Palin beyond what so many small minds seem to envision while she was on MSNBC this week. There are so many angles to dicuss on the subject of highpowered women and how they accomplish goals and objectives. Hope you all will continue to blog on subjects like that. Pam Hayes
