Snap Shots of History
By midnight, it was all over but the shouting. When it arrived the party spilled into the streets of Chicago and throughout the country. For a campaign that put such a spotlight on youth, it was no surprise that the victory celebrations should be so loud and energetic. View our gallery to see some of the highlights from the party of the year.

I am so overwhelmed with joy and hope for the future. Thank you to the people of the USA for getting it right this time!
Barack Obama intends to be a transformational figure in history. Every action and every word is chosen as though he were Abraham Lincoln--and that Lincoln knew who he would become.
A proud day for America.
The image of Jesse Jackson overwhelms me each time I see it (and last night on television). I've never walked in his shoes, but I can only imagine. God Bless.
I am proud of my country again! What a good feeling!
People of the world I hope that you know that the Bush administration did not represent the will of the American people. We've all been disgusted for so long, and frustrated by a congress too evenly split to get anything done, but with this stunning mandate I dare to say I think we're back on track.
I'm writing today from the Colorado Rocky Mountains, where I woke up to the clean white blanket of the season's first snowfall. It feels like a fresh new start. I'm so elated I could cry.
O, happy day!
What a day to be an American! A very proud moment that I believe will be remembered for a long time to come...
I cried upon seeing the simple headline of the NY Times this morning.
OBAMA
No other words needed.
There are no red states. There are no blue states. Only the United States. God bless America. God bless Barack Obama.
I'm going to plagiarize myself with an email I sent out earlier:
Over here in France, all my American and English co-workers are high-fiving each other, our ESL students are thanking us and yelling "OBAMA!" And "WE LOVE AMERICA!"
Four students offered me coffee this morning; I'm totally buzzed!
Hey, Rumsfeld was finally right:
Americans are greeted as "liberators"....of the Bush regime!
Thank you.
