How about QUOTE OF THE YEAR
by CNBC/MSNBC's Erin Burnett during an appearance on "Hardball."
"If China starts making toys with no lead in them, or food that isn't poisonous, their cost of production are going to go up, and Wal-Mart prices will go up. China is our greatest friend."
Does that kind of thinking symbolize the face of Wall Street and the economic crisis. Is it profit over human life?
It's called bean counting. If the profits to be made are very much in excessive of the costs resulting from litigation over the damage caused from tainted products and the costs to remove the taint from the product, then profit is more important than human life. One more reason why there should not be an upper limit on lawsuit awards. We need the bean counters to keep saying that it costs much more to pay off than it does to reform,
What is surprising is that somebody actually verbalized this in a public forum. I did not see this interview, so it is out of context for me and I do not know how to judge the comment. But if Mr. Burnett actually meant what this posting makes it look like he meant, then may I suggest that he be dangled from the nearest Wal-mart I-beam like a pinata? I would certainly love to take a wack at him.
How about it, Mr. Burnett. What was it that you said?
Thank you.
