How Big Is Obama's Package?

Barack Obama Chip Somodevilla / Getty Images ‘A personal matter,’ says president-elect.

At a press conference in Washington today, President-elect Barack Obama repeatedly refused to answer questions about the size of his package, calling the subject “a personal matter.”

Again and again, reporters attempted to get Mr. Obama to tell them exactly how big his package was, but the president-elect was steadfast in his refusal to quantify it.

“If I tell you the size of my package, some of you will think that it sounds too small, “ he said. “And others will be uncomfortable with how big it is.”

The president-elect seemed to indicate, however, that the size of his package may vary according to the circumstances.

“Depending on what is going on, my package could grow significantly larger,” he said. “It all comes down to the amount of stimulus.”

The president-elect apologized for his vagueness about his package, telling reporters, “I know you’re having a hard time getting your arms around it.”

Mr. Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, later indicated that the president-elect does plan on unveiling his package for the American people, probably at his inauguration.

“This will give the American people an opportunity to finally grasp his package,” Mr. Emanuel said.

But, we mustn't let the public hear just how many members of Congress have had a hand in Obama's package.

One must bear in mind, of course, that no matter the SIZE of Obama's package, he's been just as vague, if not more so, as to the direction towards which its contents will flow in the near future.

I registered just so to comment on how brilliant this article is. It actually managed to get a chuckle out of me.

All astute internet hounds who tracked the primary know the precise size of the package--they saw it on the plane, along with the giggling press and Secret Service lady.

I would say that this is a tongue-in-cheek commentary, but I wouldn't want to encourage you.

We get so wound up in trying to "break the story" and throw in our own version that the real causes of the problems become vague or just disappear . When GHWB stepped in as VP things started to spiral out of control . Health care costs started to rise faster than inflation . Fuel costs went up . Food prices went up . He is also trying to get his hands on the water supplies around the world . Veterans benifits started to disappear . The whole country was made paranoid to divert attention away from the real cause of our pain . He got a reporter fired for attempting to ask him about his girl friend . (The one that rode with him to Japan where he fainted) . Which demonstrated his control of the media . So the shaft he is poking us with will not be reported on by the media . (He is on the board of one of the male enhancement advertisers) Those of us that can remember FDR remember he gave us PRICE CONTROL . If the new Admin puts more money in our house holds the controllers of our necessities of life are going to continue to raise the prices and we will never get out of this hole . The new Admin will never get support for PRICE CONTROL because the congress and GHWB are profiting from the status quo .

I can say only one thing about the package designed to pull this country out of the mess the Bush criminals left us in, if Obama & his team want to get it done in a way that will really help, the first thing they need to do is somehow, someway by any means, DUMP Harry (the Bush rubber stamp) Reid. Reid will do everything he can to add the pork Obama promised to eliminate, Reid will do anything to cave to the republicans in Nevada, Reid will do anything to keep his job, Reid needs to be in charge of for burying nuclear wast in Nevada. Make him a one man leader in charge of finding a way to bury all the Nuclear stuff world wide, create a cabinet position for him so he needs to resign if necessary, anything to get say Dodd or Durbin or better then anyone, Birnie Sanders as leader...
