7 Best Cable-TV Feuds

The hosts of cable-TV shows often scream at their guests, but isn’t it a bit more fun when they scream at each other? Here’s a look at our favorite showdowns and smackdowns.

Jon Stewart’s First Feud

Jim Cramer isn’t the first to feel Jon Stewart’s wrath: In October 2004, Stewart appeared on CNN’s Crossfire, and relentlessly ripped into Tucker Carlson.

Geraldo Screams, O’Reilly Screams Back

Ever seen two inebriated off-duty firemen at a local pub about to come to blows? It would probably look something like this April 2007 debate on immigration on The O’Reilly Factor.

Unkempt Chris Matthews Enraged by Keith Olbermann

His hair askew and his temper short, Chris Matthews loses it on Keith Olbermann during MSNBC’s coverage of the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Was Jim Cramer crying? Does Jim honestly think that HE can make Warren Buffett look foolish? I don't think so.

Meanwhile, in Alabama and Germany, people are expressing themselves. Yes, Virginia, there is no God. There are only people running around the Planet harming oneanother, stealing from one another, getting upset about it, and then going to War to settle the score. To think that all of these dominoes would be at Peace if only a PO' Carpenter (not Christ) from Pelham Manor, NY had kept his pencil in his own mouth instead of in someone else's wife. Helen of Troy, you know. It's an old story.

Of course, Christ was opposed to all of this and said so on many occassions. But alas, people had better ideas, this being the 'fruit' of their souls. Party on Garth!

The irony is, John Stewart is usually more "on the mark" and insightful then alot of these so-called experts. Stewart is never cruel, never even rude really... and he only only brings to light exactly what these people/pundits have said. If what he said wasn't truly damning/correct.... Mr. Cramer wouldn't be so upset.

I watch the Daily Show not only because it's hilarious, but because it's intelligent. On what other comedy show can you find award-winning authors, heads-of-state, former generals, former supreme court justices...and the list goes on and on and on.

I have to admit. I don't really care for any (regardless of party) of these pundits. They spend too much time shaking their fists, yelling and not enough time doing research and listening to people far more intelligent then they are. (Of which their are many)

The Beast's coverage of people shouting at each other on television is journalism at its finest.

I'm not sure any man (or woman) can hold his or her tongue when they feel threatened. If they do manage to side-step an outburst I commend them, because it takes a lot of self-restraint.

Hard to choose a favorite moment from this grouping of screaming heads, but listening to O'Reilly say, "The meanness of the discourse in gernal bothers me" is the height of hypocrisy. Attempting to position himself as above/different from the fray doesn't cut it. O'Reilly's discourse is no more civil nor enlightened than any of these other journalist wannabes.

We have become a society that has actually grown an industry of empty suits with "news" shows. Most are suits or hairdos with little to say and only limited mental capacity. It's harder and harder to get informed, thoughtful analysis instead of partisan politics (like Faux News), BUT go to PBS as the anecdote. None of these clowns are on it.

I don't know, Hannity and Goldberg lambasting Matthews and MSNBC for being biased and unprofessional strikes me as even higher hypocracy than O'Reilly. Don't get me wrong, I think Goldberg was absolutely right about Matthews "man crush" and its a great line. But I don't think there's much Fox News does either that you could learn in "Journalism 101" to borrow his phrase. In fact, Fox is selling itself short. They invented the idea of an openly biased News Network and MSNBC just responded by ripping off their idea in the other direction. Fox should be accusing them of being cheap copies instead of pretending its some alternative beacon of credibility.

Right after that, when they break Olbermann goes "I said WE were going on." and then they kissed and made up. That's why I like Chris Matthews he can't NOT say what he is thinking. He just babbles and half of it is throw away and half is more insightful than any anchor in television.

I ran into this on YouTube. I guess this is the urban suburban hip hop strategy of the GOP...Limbaugh, Cramer, and Flight of the Conchords as HipHopopotamus and Rhymenocerous

I occasionally watch Lou Dobbs but that's it. All these other clowns are more repugnant than Maury who at least is not pretending to present serious material. I went a week without the cable news networks and felt 100% better at the end of that week about the entire world. Glenn Beck is the latest bastard child of this media and it all goes back to Morton Downey Jr. reruns in so many ways. I've given up on the lot of them. To hell with them and the idiots who promote them.

I think Jon Stewart is really funny and pretty good watch dog, at times better than the news media concerning facts.

Yeah, I'm with SCMax101 on magicman's latest installment... MM, you gotta take a break more often or something... Tho your esoteric commentary has been fun in the past, must admit!!

Doncha love Geraldo with O'Reilly, tho?! It's like you can imagine him taking a really looong run up, energy-wise, before sitting down with Mr Sweetness&Light and then POW!!, both barrels, front and centre, no turning back...!!! And, after a few throaty attempts, Mr Meanness-IS-the-discourse falls over... Where does this type of show come from, & sustain an audience? I'm from a little country south west of Texas called Australia. When we're done herding cattle, boxing kangaroos & being blokey with our sheilas, we've got no energy for watching grown men yelling at each other on "news shows". We know perfectly well that the proper place for that is in the pub after downing half a dozen beers with your mates. Then things can get lively...!

But I must admit a soft spot for Jon... As our Mr/Ms Hawnzz said, he's more often on the mark than many of the myriad meisters our media is muddled with.

Anyhoo, let's see how Jim & Jon get it on... Should be strangely compelling viewing (which is the point of this whole piece, isn't it? The accident scene - but we can't look away...!)

I enjoy Keith Olbermann because he usually gets his facts correct. He jumps all over "O'Really" because the crap that comes out of HIS mouth is an affront to the national political discourse.

I'm an INDEPENDANT, but I'd be hard-press to be anywhere near Mr. "O'Really" without wanting to strangle him. There are pundits, and there are idiots. I've never considered Mr. "O'Really" a pundit.

It's also nice to see Newscorp finally distancing themselves from him as well. He's an embarassment to television journalism. (Come back to us Chet and David)

hawnzz says, John "Stewart [. . .] only only brings to light exactly what these people/pundits have said." Yes and that is what Ann Coulter does also. Why is John Stewart loved by liberals and Ann Coulter hated by them? Liberals hate? I am shocked!

Um, AC's agenda is the constant ridicule of people who don't agree with her.She expresses this umbrage with insults, defamation and personal slurs.
Stewart's is more refreshing. His show is dedicated to pointing out any and all who say silly things, take themselves too seriously and those who truly are ridiculous.
