You Should Meet My Mother

Author Photo - Tory Burch Tory Burch, fashion designer

My mother, Reva, is my biggest inspiration. I grew up on a farm with three brothers and was a total tomboy. I was much more interested in riding horses and climbing trees than in fashion. My mother often says they were always getting me out of a tree.

While my mother and I shared a love of sports, the fashion part definitely came later for me. I remember watching my mother get ready for an evening out when I was little and thinking she was the most glamorous and chic woman I had ever seen.

I still feel the same way when I look at her today. Over the years she has taught me a lot about style and even more about motherhood. She always taught us to approach everything with a positive attitude and to treat everyone with kindness and patience.

Keeping the values she instilled in us in mind has definitely helped me in my career and affected how I am raising my children. She always put us first and talked about the importance of family. My mother has always been my muse and good luck charm, so it’s only natural that our best selling shoe, the Reva ballerina, is named after her. She never thought she would become famous for a shoe!

Tribute to famous mothers by their famous daughters: this is a wonderful chronicle, however, it is disturbing for it features white women, America, the land of black, hispanic, white, biracial, you couldnt find famous mothers and their famous daughters, ag shame!!

Huntng down innocent animals and tearing the skin off deer? Not exactly something to be impressed by, in my book. Mothers are imperfect creatures, just like the rest of us.

My mother, who died last year, wasn't a hunter but, of course, had her flaws. She and I, her only child, were very different people who didn't get along well. But she was still my mother, she enjoyed her life immensely, she did it her way, and I can't quite believe she's really gone.

Ardeth Dear, Won't you please share you "air" diet as that must be all that you-all eat and it must be quite slimming! Did it even slightly cross your mind that perhaps Mikas family HAD to hunt, they may have been poor,or maybee the wildlife was destroying crops and had to b'e killed BUT not wasted! Or perhaps her family decided that if the raseing, killing and butchering are considered a good job for someone else to do;Well then it was good enough for Mika's family to do for themselves. If our Country and the world keep circling the the drain- people like mika and my extended family will be alive at the other end of the possibly crash of civalazation-I guess you and yours will sit around going ewww gross till you get hungry but since you don't have aclue as how to procede---well can I ask you one favor if the big shit starts coming down? Just let yourself go w/dignaty to meet up w/ your mom at the pearly gates and when you do ask your mom "mom why weren't we ever taght to fend for ourselves!" Just a message that I truley wish you would take to heart-and then Act on it sister byby, from Jessismon

I felt the love from my grandmother...just by walking into the room...For all the other people reading this...when it makes you squirm becasue you don't have these warm and fuzzy memories..read "Trapped in the Mirror" it's for adult children of narcissitic parents. It is a relief to read.

I dont need to criticize anyones, mom. Happy Mothers Day to all of them, there be no us, without our mothers!!. But for ardeth, who criticized the hunting mother, Remember the microwave world, was not the world many mother, and grandmothers grew up in. Skinning,Herriings, killing animals, for dinner, stweing rabbits, decapitating a chicken, raising hogs, milking cows, making butter and cheese, and making corn tortillas, etc. There were no KentuckyFried Chicken, and noBurger Kings, nor vegeterian restaurants. We Dont need to criticize anyones mom, they all are their best moms, in the world.,And any mother that could provide for herself and her family, is a perfect mom.I do agree with nkdzi,.....are there no other mom's than white moms.Disturbing.
