A Brief History of Kate Gosselin's Hair
Until recently, it was easy to ignore Kate Gosselin of TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 and her curious haircut. Then husband Jon allegedly cheated on her, and suddenly, the hair of the mother of twins and sextuplets was dominating the tabloids. We traced the origins of the mysterious ‘do back to its roots.
Marine-buzzed up the back, newly spiked on top, with a long gush of bangs ideal for diva-tossing, Kate Gosselin’s hair soon prompted stories of its own. As the media’s focus shifted from Jon’s dalliance to Kate’s obnoxiousness, questions about her “reverse mullet” mounted: How did a small-town Pennsylvania mom end up with such an outré hairdo? Was it cut by a professional, or a clumsy if well-meaning sextuplet? And why have moms nationwide been clamoring for the hairstyle of someone so profoundly unpleasant?
We knew we’d seen this coif before, and not just on lesbians. Turns out it’s actually part of a long lineage of famous dos, as this exclusive Daily Beast slideshow reveals.

She's got a Posh thing going on, until she opens her mouth and the kids emerge. She's not breaking out any time soon. Wonder how long she can hold the look.
"Until recently, it was easy to ignore Kate Gosselin of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 and her curious haircut."
It still is; please try harder.
I call Kate's hairdo the "future mullet"
This haircut has been around long before Kate .Women love this haircut. The lesbian comment was really not needed.I found this article just plain not worth anything.Come on Daily Beast.
I work in the dental field, and this hair style is immensely popular (especially in the Midwest) with women who work in dentistry. I attended a dental meeting and at least 3 out of 5 had this hair style...
What is the point of this? Their life is already picked apart enough. Just because the Gosselins are on a TV show doesn't mean the public needs to be so fickle as to make rude comments on Kate's hairstyle. This was a waste of space.
"not plain worth anything"? today of all days i need a laugh, and that's worth a lot. (i thought the adam lambert comparison was genius!)
wow, always considered myself pretty observant
#1 Never heard of these morons until last week
#2 I think her hair is actually the SAME in every picture
Catty, small and a complete waste of time.
Have to agree, this was a pathetic excuse of a blog to actually have clicked on and read. I thought I would regret it, and I do.
Kate couldn't have found a more suitable style for her features. That stlye is cute and sassy.
Meow!

Ugh. Can we stop encouraging this awful publicity diva? The only thing that will make Kate Gosslin and her porcupine haircut go away is if the news media stops giving her so much coverage. She's become almost as bad as Octomom.
It's tabloids people! If you don't like it, don't look!! It does look lesbian (yes, it was ok to go there!!) and her hair looks NOTHING like the cool people from the gallery...Posh, Streisand, Anniston... Even the poor dog should be insulted to compared to that don't of a hair 'do!!!
I realize it's fun and all, but did you have to put HER in the same league as Streisand? Posh & lesbians wear it SOOO much better. The dog has more class.
She's nothing but trash & not worthy of the time I just spent typing this !
Dale are you lesbian?
you got it right the first time - Vidal Sassoon - he invented this style. and the picture chosen to represent Sassoon's style isn't the best. as a teen, we died for this style. i know i tried to wear it but my hair curls and it just wouldn't work - though i have pictures that show me attempted to soldier ahead nonetheless. i always liked the style and was surprised to see it re-popularized by victoria beckam - and now this woman. whoever she is.
Funny, Dale! What a luxury it must be, to have eight kids as well as a stylist.
To me her hair seems like total white trash compared to Posh! No comparison! Maybe a Posh wannabe! She has a weird reverse mullet and bad highlights. I'm sure her stylists do her hair to appeal to the masses not to make a fashion statement. She says it is representing her personality..hmm, okay, that's about right...gag.
Thank you.
