my all-time fave was Arthur Ashe beating the mighty Jimmy Connors with his very big small game

You can still hear that match online. No video though.

nice gallery, but a couple of observations:
--they spent 100,000 pounds to renovate which includes a retractable roof??? that amount hardly gets them a new lawn on center court nowadays
--Nasty and Jude Law doppelgangers? I don't think so (but butt-ugly Nastase wishes)
--A grand slam is actually winning all four Majors in one year, so to say that Pete Sampras, to cite just one of your faux pas, won 17 grand slams is sooooooo incorrect-- he didn't win any-- he won 17 Majors
that's it-- I feel better now

You're right about Grand Slam being four in one year but "Major" is used more so in golf. In tennis, they usually call it a Slam. You must feel even better now.

the retractable roof cost much more than 100,000 pounds. when those rain delays occur it really sets the schedule back.too bad this year they had little chance to use it. I watched roger and andy's final. fabulous match. does anyone think that John mcenroe and ted robinson talk too much? they do not stop commenting on many things. Mary Carillo is also too chatty. just want to hear them after a point. Bud Collins was even worse. I wish they would keep there stats and opinions after a point.

Tip to Beast writers: if your piece has a pix of someone's naked ass you get to stay on the front page for four days.
