The Fashion Blogger Power List
An ambitious new group of online fashion followers have parlayed their Internet cachet into serious fashion-industry careers.
Fashion bloggers haven't had it easy. There was a time, not so long ago, that those in the field were considered lecherous threats to established fashion media outlets, rather than an integral part of the up-to-the-nanosecond exchange of sartorial information. But today, the formerly inferior force is rubbing shoulders with industry elite, not to mention snagging prime seating at Fashion Week presentations. And the perks of being an MVP fashion blogger don't stop there.
Book deals, modeling contracts, namesake handbags, and gigs designing for major retailers are just some of the highlights the blogosphere's most fashionable participants have landed in recent months. And their collective reputation only appears to be growing—both with regard to garnering internal industry respect as well as arousing feverish fan bases. Take Holt Renfrew, for instance; the Canadian retailer recently decked out the windows of its northern outposts with installations honoring its favorite fashion bloggers. Much in the same vein, last month Absolut enlisted the help of a comparable style-blogging set to create original artworks for a temporary gallery exhibition in Munich.
