by John Avlon
In electing Audra Shay to head the Young Republicans, despite a slew of hate-tinged actions, even the GOP’s future leaders chose to bury the Party of Lincoln.

New GOP "Racist" Headache
by John Avlon
After "Barack the Magic Negro" and other GOP racial gaffes, a top Young Republican official—who was elected chairman Saturday—laughs at a racial slur about President Obama. The Daily Beast's John Avlon on a choice facing GOP brass: Lose the radical fringe, or never email, use social media or send out holiday CDs again.

Please please elect her and put the Republicans in the dustbin of history.
Genni2002
Finally, a woman in a high level, responsible position. Don't repubs have more inclusive women on the team that would be better candidates? What the heck. Am getting sick of this issue coming up because it is tired, a waste of time and should have been thrown in the dust bin of history decades ago. If you guys are still harping on about skin color in this day and age, then I want no part of this party so, go ahead and show your true colors!
winkingchef
I'd like to suggest a better qualified, younger, female candidate. While she is occasionally muddled on basic facts, she is fundamentally a decent person and (as a bonus) is capable of writing in complete sentences. What's not to like?
Elect Meghan McCain!

Other than the fact that she has a grasp on current events that makes Palin look like look like a genius?

G.O.P's have "jumped the shark"....
A new viable party is needed.....

The sanctimony of the left before our very eyes.
That's right, there's no such thing as a racist liberal. I forgot.
Bow down before the altar of Eric Holder and offer your obeisance.
wiseone
Mofiamen this is info you need. Everyone has a right to be prejudiced, expel hatred, and dislike anything they want. If you are democrat or republican that's irrevelant. The point is when you take these components outside of your inner circle and violate civil rights laws that's a problem. I could care less how much someone dislikes me because of my skin color, as long as they are not in a position to alter my lifestyle. Take this example. A person is denied a job promotion because he/she is not a certain skin color, not because they are not qualified. Now do you understand what racism is all about?? It's the denial of equal rights. The difference between the republicans and the democrats is the GOP condones racial division to accomplish their goals, it's that simple.
Mofiamen
Interesting, wisone. So you really can't see your own racism.
The liberal/progressive idea that we must discriminate in order to fight discrimination is racism.
Hear any news about firefighters recently?
GateKeeper
I wonder who really believes Liberals can't be prejudice or even racist? No one in their RIGHT mind...(lol)
It's a weak argument to make(lol).. but the comments below by Mofiamen.. is the oldest JIM CROW LOGIC used for over a CENTURY to
STOP non-whites from progessing (again the key word is PROGESSIVE/progressing) .. the GOP COLLECTIVE character which reminds me of planation slave owners up thru the civil rights era WHO'S BIGGEST FEAR were slaves and sharecroppers learning to READ, to keep them uneducated was beneficial to these JIM CROW ENABLERS.. to the enablers being NON=progressive was the IDEAL to keep in tact for supremacy and revenue, having labor done for FREE .. and so from the 1800- BLACKS weren't allowed to read on the plantation, not even the bible and if CAUGHT could be killed so how righteous is that in the SITE OF GOD?.. this type of demonstration is what the GOP reminds me of.. Teaching their children that people of color are lazy, uneducated, irgnorant, nasty sexed crazed human animals with no morals or respect for family structured values... when on the contrary there are more conservative african americans than liberal african americans..and that is not to say liberals don't have moral or values..
..and then in the 1950's BLACKs were not to get EQUAL education to set side by side to white students..AGAIN the word is progress or progression..and to stagnate equality to american taxpayers ..is straight out racist.. and certain state laws this act.. so it's not surprizing someone like Mofiamen will use the terms progressive/PROGRESS linked to discriminate and racism.. don't be bamboozed by JIM CROW LOGIC as reversed discrimination.. it's the age old trick trying to promote WHITE supremacy..EVEN in 2009.. the confederate states STILL think they have a chance to make AFRICAN AMERICAN AS 2nd class citizens forever in a day..it's SENSE-LESS AND GODLESS..
As far as the Conn., firefighters.. it was wrong what happened, but this type of thing has EVERY SINGLE DAY TO PEOPLE OF COLOR in america for decades and decades.. so just KNOW THIS MOFIAMEN.. and whites would defend discrimination as a RIGHT of liberty..(IT'S A GODLESS ACT)..
here's another example that happened in the 1990's. the most notable was the texeco corporation who KEPT all black suprvisors from becoming corporate managers as qualified.. it was discovered in board-room meetings.. where a SPY was planned with a recorder.. where white executives referred to black suprvisors as black jelly beans and was to ALWAYS to be kept at the bottom of the JAR.. CODE:>..never promote them to managers.. well the tape got out and the texeco corporation was sued for 100's of millions as a discriminstion suit.. and texeco settled of course.. and had to pay million to those the black suprvisor employees involved and denied for management positions..
(IMPO) .. getting back to the CONN., firefighters.. is that most of the white firefighters are generations related and the question is> did they CHEAT on the test becuz all the supervisors in the pass were ALL RELATED(all in the family) ..being related as supervisors..
sippewissett
Of course racism is on both sides of the aisle, but the GOP decided to institutionalize it with this election.

Explain to me how eric holder fits here?
labman57
This is a predictable result of the bigotry and hate-mongering perpetuated by the McCain/Palin ticket and the RNC during the 2008 campaign. These racist and right-wing extremist nut-jobs feel that the GOP mainstream has their backs.
Hawnzz
McCain went out of his way to not associate himself with those types. Palin did the opposite.
sippewissett
You haven't got it quite right. McCain stopped a woman ranting about Obama as an Arab. McCain corrected her to let her know that "No, he's a decent man." Therefore in that syllogixm, an Arab cannot be a decent man. McCain's intention was noble, especially given the crowds that he and Palin were stirring up, but the unconscious racism was still in what McCain said. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf6YKOkfFsE
Now racism is being fanned again with the election of Shay to head the Young Republicans. I'd give a lot of money to be a fly on the wall at the RNC. There must be a lot of sighing and hand-wringing going on in that organization because the Young Republicans just helped shovel the GOP into the corner more than before.
wiseone
Correction; this is the fundamental problem with the GOP, they include racist white supremacist low-life in their arsenal. This is nothing new, republicans have used the racist component in elections for decades. However as you can see, this philosophy is beginning to work against them. Racism is a waste of time and resources.
AuntBarb
Another Republican who seems to belong on talk radio. Although, at least Rush and Bill and Sean have enough brains not to respond to their racist crackpot fans the way Ms Shay did.
sippewissett
Rush, Bill and Sean don't respond to racism. They spew it themselves...in code.

Free country.
Everybody has a right to precisely whatever the heck it is that they feel or think.
We have a right to our character defects and the battle to overcome them.
Or not.
And the Young Republicans have a right to elect someone so stupid and ignorant as to not only fail to check these character defects in herself but to publicize them on the internet.
Could the Republicans please just not elect anymore stupid people to positions of leadership?
Please?
Or is that too much to ask?
Hawnzz
Lately it feels that way...

Sadly, this choice seems to represent the kind of political judgment possessed by, at least, the Young Republicans. They won't always be young Republicans, but they will occupy the ranks of the Republican Party of the future.
I only hope there are more of the Megan McCain Republicans out there; young people of principle who realize that Party loyalty is a shabby and frightening substitute for being able and willing to challenge Party doctrine when necessary.
Hawnzz
As much as things change... some things never seem to change.
doko84
just another step of republican's descent into minority, third party status. watch the dog panic and become violent as it slides faster and faster into the abyss.
Mhussein
I have been praying for them to elect her...I wonder what she is going to do when she meets Steele. The last time I check, he is black too.
The GOP is done....the goose is cooked..stick a fork in it.
GateKeeper
She not going to do anything but expect admiration from STEELE..
..becuz she knows just like other GOP member.. that Steele is the type of NEGRO that would NEVER say anything to HER in regard to her racist comments..he's a RACE BAIT token so the GOP doesn't appear to be so bladant...ahhh racist..
..see for some..
...there is a difference between being a
Black man..
and
a Negro
.. if you notice the word negro doesn't identify as labeled the sex of the person unless if you say negro man or negro woman.. the sex of the negro isn't necessary UNLESS it needs to be KNOWN... SOOOOO...it's not important are revelant ..
So for the ignorance of SOME(you know who you are).. there is a difference between a negro =Tolerance and a.. black man =Rebellion
That is why some ignorant individuals refused to say that President Obama is a black man.. or african american PERIOD.. or he's not really a BLACK MAN (how stupid is that?)...
..if any person who is an authenic african american> it would be President Obama..who's father was actually a full blooded african and his mother's nationality was American=Barack Obama=African(father)American(mother)..
If you really want to understand WHY america has such a issue with the word BLACK.. go to the dictionary and look up the definition of the word BLACK.. also look up the world White..and it's definition.. then you will understand collectively the contrast and indifference to irrational brainwashing. TAUGHT... and we call this educating our children thru the definintion of color associated to the human race?

This country is faced with a staggering economy, international chaos in the middle east, third world countries attempting to acquire nuclear capabilities and millions of Americans without health care. The President and his staff appear to be working hard to solve these problems. But what does the party do that lost the election? Everything they can, but help this administration accomplish it's goals, how stupid can they be?
Are there any decent republicans out there? I'm not surprised the young republiklans elected a racist leader, this is what they are trained to do. Bigotry and hatred are easy task to pursue, but taking on serious issues that this country is confronted with needs an intelligent thought process, somthing I doubt the young republicans have beyond their ability to perpetuate hate.
GeorgeB
When I think of Young Republcans I think of those loud, young goons disrupting the recount in Florida.
She's perfect!
theschmooze
Oh come on a racist in The GOP, I can't believe it. This is further evidence of how the GOP is out of touch. If further proof is needed just listen to any of the other hate mongers, Rush, The Fox Irish Goon Squad, Colter. Let the GOP spin out of control. They will not be able to resurrect themselves by 2012.

This may very well be the last nail in the Republican Party coffin. Speaking as an Independent voter It is a sad day for the country.
