Woo hoo - objectification of women - just what I needed as I start my workday. Ugh - I think I may be about done with the Daily Beast.
crymeariver
Really Daily Beast? This is the role of women in baseball, to be pin-ups for boys? Aren't there some female owners, fans, or something to cover. This is really demeaning.

Here's one for you: Marge Schott, the racist owner of the Cincinnati Reds from 1984-1999. Thankfully she was not able to procreate with Rush to be able to birth the ultimate bigoted Right Wing lard ass.

great story. let's not claim sexism here ladies, there is a link equally targeted to the female audience as well (top 10 richest guys in baseball)
crymeariver
Really? You consider that EQUAL? Get the men half-naked with their mouths wide open waiting for something to be stuck inside and we can call it EQUAL!
Who the hell cares how much money the men make? Just in case you missed it women are now allowed to vote as well as work outside of the home and some even make more money than those athletes:) DB am sure is capable of putting up pictures of rich women fully-dressed with their fortunes next to their pictures.
Matt572
A few points: most were fully dressed; richest guys in baseball is sort of equal when you factor in biology (case in point: every guy's success rate at a bar or club will be much higher in nice clothes than in shorts and a tank top;) and finally, and there are already two positive comments on the article, so there's obviously an audience for it. It is well within reason to say the story isn't newsworthy and therefore shouldn't be on TDB, but it will be somewhere if people want it, or if anyone thinks people want it. To say that it shouldn't is hardly progressive.
crymeariver
It is demeaning. Were it not demeaning, they would have had shots of men in similar half-dressed and sexually compromising positions. Men think that they shouldn't be placed in similar demeaning positions. That's EXACTLY what you are saying.
You as a male are too good to be demeaned and you would prefer dollars signs next to your fully dressed image. Well women would prefer to also be fully dressed with dollar figures next to their images instead. Your justification for the objectification of women is simply that, justification.
If you put up porn on the site you will also get positive comments. However, that's not what the daily beast is about.

I'm with crymeariver. I don't care how much money men make. I want them to be good men, who respect women, see us as equals and can be fellow human beings with us.
LLLLLL
This article is like a Sports Illustrated spread. I agree with the posts that this is female objectification.

I know the list cannot be exhaustive, especially since other than Marilyn Monroe there is little immediately available pictorial data on who dated/married whom prior to the computer age, but how about an honorable mention for Tawny Kitaen, the former wife of former Angel pitcher Chuck Finley? Also, perhaps the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) could undertake the necessary research for a truly all-encompassing Hall of Fame.
Thank you.
