More Sexy BeastSocialite, Reality Star—or Thief?
Patrick McMullan
Nightlife fixture Kashmir Snowdon-Jones is a self-styled socialite who brags of modeling gigs and MTV shows. Now prosecutors say they believe that she is a credit-card grifter. Peter Davis on the club scene's enigma.
Donning her signature second-skin black leggings and blinking her deep blue eyes, sometime model and aspiring socialite Kashmir Snowdon-Jones stood up at her table at the exclusive New York nightclub 1Oak last Friday night. She had an important, life-changing announcement.
"She wanted the whole table to know she was getting a reality show [on MTV]," says a woman who was at the table. "She was drunk as a skunk. She was dancing and laughing."
“She sleeps every day until 8 p.m., then goes out all night and just goes crazy.”
My sources at MTV aren't aware of any such show (an MTV PR executive did not return a call for comment), but Snowdon-Jones was sitting on another momentous personal update, one the 22-year-old chose not to share: She had just been charged with for grand larceny and identity theft. On February 10, Snowdon-Jones turned herself in to authorities after her former best friend Jennifer Hirsch filed a complaint with the New York Police Department alleging that Snowdon-Jones, her classmate at Oldfields, an all-girls boarding school in Maryland, had stolen and used her mother's credit-card number to the tune of almost $4,000. ("I made the credit-card charges to get back at my friend," Kashmir told police, according to a New York Post report about the complaint.)
These dueling personas—the aspiring model with the long blond hair and the fancy name versus the alleged grifter who bilked her best friend—has Manhattan's privileged club-hopping set buzzing.
The child of Peggy-Sue Honeyman Scott, who lives in Los Angeles, and Manhattan interior designer David Snowdon-Jones, who claims to be the grandson of renowned photographer Lord Snowdon, Princess Margaret's husband, Kashmir Snowdon-Jones boasts that her godfather is Eric Clapton and that she's named after the famous Led Zeppelin song.
At Oldfields, Snowdon-Jones had a reputation as a real-life mean girl. She eventually left to attend the Professional Children's School in New York, a private high school for children actors or models that counts Mischa Barton and Jordana Brewster as alums. Now represented by the Los Angeles-based modeling agency Nous, Snowdon-Jones boasts often about upcoming modeling gigs, though she doesn't seem to have gotten much work (an acquaintance remembers seeing her in a Champion ad).
Snowdon-Jones hits the town almost seven nights a week, numerous contemporaries say, a regular at spots like Southside, Butter, 1Oak and The Eldridge, though she counts a scant three photographs on patrickmcmullan.com, a New York bellwether of social status. "I don't really count going to 1Oak as being a socialite," sniffs a woman who refers to Snowdon-Jones as her "frenemy." "She likes to be the center of attention. She's a pretty hard partier. She keeps up with the best of them." Says another 1Oak regular says, "She sleeps every day until 8 p.m., then goes out all night and just goes crazy."

In Kashmir's defense - to all of the DailyBeast gossipers and NYC people - I've personally known Kashmir since we met back in the Suede days several years ago. I always felt lucky to know her because it was immediately obvious what an extremely special, sweet and beautiful girl she is - both inside and out. I live in LA now but I was in NY over the holidays and ran into her at Southside. She was the same sweet girl - still completely down to earth, not to mention being the prettiest girl in the room and carrying herself with great class. Kash, if you're reading this - don't let the haters and negativity get you down! And to the public - please remember that it's easy to pass judgement and smear someones name on a blog without knowing them. Don't be so quick to believe everything you read just because it's in print. There's 2 sides to every story and perhaps she made a mistake, but haven't we all? Try giving her the benefit of the doubt rather than recklessly destroying the reputation of a 22 year old girl. She doesn't deserve this. Here's one person who knows her personally and is happy to vouch for and defend a quality girl. Keep your head up! Your friend, the "Thespian" ; )

SuedeFriend, would you feel the same way if she'd lifted your credit card and taken it on a $4K shopping spree without telling you or offering to pay you back? Just asking.

um...yeah...there's a whole world outside of the manhattan junior club scene. get your head out of your ass, your nose out of the blow, get out and see the world.
this article almost sounded interesting, but i stopped at page one. it's just another story about an indulgent and otherwise pathetic individual with no sense of individuality, much less self. congrats on that giant sucking sound coming from the scene! must be SO COOL. so jealous y'all are living the dream.

I agree that media allegations do not spell truth. Too many people have been hurt by unsubstantiated accusations that are subsequently withdrawn, yet the media indictment remains in Google, Yahoo, etc on cached pages forever. It is very painful.
Beerzie
My sources suggest that giving celebutards attention is bad for society.
flyoverland
I agree with Beerzie. People who use their parents' accomplishments as validation are almost, but not quite as bad as those who engage in political royalty. I would much prefer to read about people who have accomplished things on their own. The East Coast elites seem to be dying to keep the myth of the high society set alive. I do, however, have to wonder what level of "high society" associates with people with honorifics like "DJ" and "MC"? But then, I don't get tattoos or piercings, either. What ever happened to Bitsy, Mimi and CiCi?
PaulJG
"East Coast elites?" Oh, dear! Yet another "them" and "they" at whom I've got to cluck and tsk-tsk.
flyoverland
clucking and tsking is an East coast phenomonon. When was the last time you read about some scion of a society family misbehaving out here in flyoverland?
jbrendan
Good call, flyover. Jeffrey Dahmer never stole anyone's credit card. I think it has more to do with the lack of moneyed-society more than the lack of misbehavior in "flyoverland."
flyoverland
I don't believe Jeffrey Dahmer pretended to be a great serial killer because of family connections. We have no shortage of thugs, killers and thieves, but they are not elitist thugs, killers and thieves.

Kashmir is not a bad person, she's no criminal either. She is a sweet woman who is the real deal. Having fun isn't a crime. Socializing with friends isn't a crime. The crime is having a no-name writer use her to make a buck. Kashmir doesn't deserve this kind of abuse.
comink
Oh really?! Does having fun include committing a crime and having Daddy whip out his check book to cover it? (A good parent would never do that)
liberatorquest
Comink, a good parent would most definitely do that!!!! Your warped sense of reality just came out with that statement, you never leave your children hanging, never ever!!!!!!!
comink
Liberatorquest, I never said she should be left hanging. A good parent would confront the child and insist she right the wrong herself. (by paying them back with her own money and apologizing, or earning the money if she doesn't have it) If Daddy always covers the problems and she knows that, how will she ever learn to be a responsible and productive adult? Your sense is actually the one that is warped here.

LOL-ing at the "My sources at MTV" also... What a talented investigative reporter, managing to snag a confidential source at MTV!!!

Just a 'high-class' tart that collects her dues by using CC's.
If she lived eslsewhere she would be called a hooker.

She looks like the American murderess Amanda Knox, only bleached.

"The child of Peggy-Sue Honeyman Scott, who lives in Los Angeles, and Manhattan interior designer David Snowdon-Jones, who claims to be the grandson of renowned photographer Lord Snowdon,"
That's really most unlikey. Not least because Lord Snowdon's family name is "Armstrong Jones". Details here:

mcclue
her father "claims" to be Lord Snowdon's GRAND-son? That calls for a bit of explaining -- Which is Lord Snowdon's children (3 legitimate, one not) is the parent of this girls father?

Who cares?

Re: Peter Davis' story: If David Snowdon-Jones is really the grandson of Lord Snowdon surely his name would be Armstrong-Jones (Lord Snowdon's family name). Snowdon is the title Anthony Armstrong-Jones assumed. And its a mountain in Wales.

Check out the Hare Psychopathy Checklist. She knocks it out of the park.
But her expressionless eyes say it all (a famous psycho/sociopathic hallmark)...

Brilliant, Hammie.
Dead on.

Why are these "high Society" types always the most classless pieces of sh--?
gigigogo
Um...no. From what I have read Lord Snowdon and his off-spring do not call themselves "Snowdon-Jones" - Armstrong-Jones is the family name. "Snowdon" was a title bestowed upon Anthony Armstrong-Jones when he married Princess Margaret.
I, too, am curious as to which child of Lord Snowdon this David "Snowdon-Jones" comes from.

She's just a blip on the scene anyhow.
