The winners for the 2010 Edison Awards, which honor America's most innovative new products, were just announced. From a personal sleep coach to an electronic mechanic, we picked some of the buzziest finalists. Click here for the complete list of winners.
Each year, the Edison Awards honor the inspiration, perspiration, and downright coolness behind the most innovative and cutting-edge new products and services. Two thousand business executives judge recent inventions handpicked by the Awards Steering Committee for their ingenuity, impact on society, and the creativity with which they were introduced to the public. The head honchos then vote the finalists and the winners are announced at a gala. This year's finalists included a pen that “remembers” everything you've written with it (your prose, notes, and random jottings can be then uploaded onto your laptop), an electric diagnostician for cars that tells you what ails your vehicle long before a money-hungry mechanic needs to get involved, and a “sleep coach” that uncovers the factors that affect your sleeping patterns—and suggests ways to maximize the quality of your zzz's. Thomas would be proud.

What exactly is an electric engine?

Maybe it should be called the Tesla award: The invention of alternating current and the electric motor have to count for something.
Props to Edison but, he was kind of a scumbag.
Thank you.
