Former Speaker of the House John Boehner told a private business gathering Monday night that Republicans are “never” going to repeal and replace Obamacare because “the American people have gotten accustomed to it,” according to a report in The Washington Post. Speaking to the group in Las Vegas, Boehner—who has largely avoided the public eye since retiring from Congress two years ago—said the legislation has simply “been around too long.” He added, “Governors have gotten accustomed to this Medicaid expansion, and so trying to pull it back is really not going to work.” In a series of tweets Tuesday morning, President Trump remained positive about repealing and replacing the legislation. He wrote: “ObamaCare is torturing the American People. The Democrats have fooled the people long enough. Repeal or Repeal & Replace! I have pen in hand.”
