The long-awaited film version of Danny Moynihan’s 2001 roman à clef about the art world, Boogie-Woogie, premiered in the U.K. on April 20. Director Duncan Ward’s adaptation of the book, which he’s been working on with Moynihan for the past seven years, shifts the scene from New York to London. Starring Gillian Anderson, Heather Graham, Alan Cumming and Amanda Seyfried, the comedic film focuses on the pursuit of Mondrian’s masterwork, the first painting in his Boogie-Woogie series. Despite the change in scenery, the cast of comedic characters is largely true to Moynihan’s original group. “The bigger prices were happening in London so it made sense to draw it over there,” Ward told ArtInfo.com of the film.
