Forgive me iPhone, for I have sinned. The Catholic Church Tuesday gave a stamp of approval to the Confession app, available for $1.99 on iTunes for iPhones and iPads. But traditionalists who still enjoy hearing their priest dole out punishment need not fear—the app is not meant to replace the standard confessional. The program gives you an “Examination of Conscience” to help users figure out if they have committed a sin, and also suggests possible penance. It also comes with the seven acts of contrition to choose from and recite for practice. While it keeps a running tally of sins, and how much time has lapsed since the user’s last confession, it’s all kept under a locked password.
