A Purity Test for the GOP?

Next stop, mandatory reading of Going Rogue? Talking Points Memo reports that the Republican National Committee is considering a purity test for political candidates. The “Proposed RNC Resolution on Reagan’s Unity Principle for Support of Candidates” lays out 10 issues and, if adopted, would cut off party support and money from candidates who disagree with three or more of them. Issues include opposition to cap-and-trade legislation, a rejection of amnesty for illegal immigrants, and support for a troop surge in Afghanistan. The RNC will vote on the resolution in January.

When are you Liberals going to get it ? Dirt Bags come in both parties.

Those of you on the FAR RIGHT and FAR LEFT have your heads in the ideological sand.

Time to wake up.

that's ironic, sophia.

while you are awake, you might want to check your assumptions about people whom you do not know.

They just can't stop tightening the noose around their necks, can they?

Soon we will hear a gasp, a gurgle, and a thud!

It's an oxymoron for the repubs to have a purity test. Everyone would fail.

I've got a MUCH BETTER IDEA; Leave the Democratic Party PERMANENTLY IN CHARGE. They can have a 60% Majority in the House of Representatives and 60% in the Senate. GET RID OF All the Republican'ts and Apply ALL Of their Income, Benefits and Pension (Retirement) to the Deficit.

We could Just GO with the assumption, which to-date is Fact - the Republican'ts SAY NO TO EVERYTHING the Majority Attempts to enact, to the benefit of All Americans!

Inasmuch as the Democratic party is a Group of Independent Thinkers who MOSTLY act in what they believe to be in the Best Interest of Their Constituents.

Such a Political approach would Greatly deminish the mean-hearted, ever-conflicting political discourse AND COULD go a long way towards mending the ever-widening chasm across the political spectrum.

Wow, requiring that a GOP funded candidate actually agree with the GOP most of the time. How radical and extreme.

What's next? Requiring that the Pope be a Catholic?

Leave it to this party of inclusion to come up with
a Loyalty Oath.
Next-the Army-McConnell Hearings?
(Now, as for healthcare, personally I wish a few of the Dem. leaders would remind other Dems. of the party planks, or
who needs Republicans?)

It's their party and they can do what they like to it. But my money is on that if this measure is adopted it will hurt more than helps the party by radicalizing it

Personally, I don't think there is a single American who is pure enough to meet all of the conservative principles that the Republican Party (and conservative posters here) demands.

The Republican Party should give up trying to find anybody and just disband itself. Just sayin' ...

Thank god we are all not "pure" enough. Can you imagine the country we would have to live in being bound to these rules? All I can see is smoke rising from the rubble and a few smirking hypocrites in rags clutching their semi automatic guns.

You mean NewYorkerR? He'll be there in the rubble, packing and keeping out the illegals, homos, chinese, muslims, afghans, indonesians, liberals, Detroiters, and most importantly, women who don't shave their legs.

On COUNTDOWN, it was noted that Ronald Reagan wouldn't have passed the Republican Purity test. So much for the party of Lincoln and Reagan. Welcome to the party of the increasingly shrinking tent.

Re: Cap and Trade.

The thing is the people making the rules today, don't have to care about 2050, they will be passed away, as polite society describes being deader than a door nail.

It is the young people, Meghan's age and even younger, to them 2050 means something, they will still be alive.

Meghan McCain for example, will be 66, in 2050. It is her generation and younger, who will have live with the consequences.

The people making these important decisions today won't have to.

[What Would a Successful Cap-and-Trade Program Look Like?

The goal: To limit the rise in global temperature to approximately 2.0 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels by 2050 by reducing carbon dioxide and other emissions from companies as part of a larger plan for curbing global warming.] excerpted from http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/01/capandtrade101.html.

Besides, we all know it's all about abortion.

Judging by how Bush's administration worked out, it should have been named "Contract On America", FatFreddy.

We already know you get kicked off the ticket if you are a (female) supporter of abortion rights. A mandatory Creationism oath is surely next.
