Al Qaeda NYC Terror Plot Foiled

After weekend arrests made in Colorado and Queens, the FBI says it prevented a terrorist attack in New York City. Authorities arrested the plot's suspected ringleader, Najibullah Zazi, a 24-year-old airport shuttle driver, in Denver on Saturday night. Zazi's father, Mohammad Zazi, was also taken into custody, and both are expected to appear in court in Denver on Monday. Zazi had been under surveillance by the FBI and CIA for a year leading up to his arrest, and allegedly traveled to Pakistan twice for al Qaeda explosives training. Nine handwritten pages detailing the manufacture and detonation of explosives were found in Zazi's possession, according to the FBI. The FBI also arrested Ahmed Afzali, an imam in Queens who allegedly made false statements to officials about his contact with the Zazis. He is also due in court Monday morning.

Plantagenet

"Al Qaeda is still a threat. We cannot pretend somehow that because Barack Hussein Obama got elected as president, suddenly everything is going to be OK."

--Barack Obama

You can stay on Orange Alert, or even Purple if it matches your face.

You can be on plaid alert because it matches your blotchy complexion.

Gerry's entire modus operandum seems to consist of cutting and pasting. Quite an apt metaphor for the way he and his ilk eschew the responsibility of actually thinking while engaging in discourse. It's like he's ordering talking points from a McDonald's drive-through menu. Barking out a number relieves him of the responsibility of having to formulate thoughts and words.

Gerry- It's a joke, not "Triumph of the Will." Geez, give it a rest.

Well put Genomegk, and Plantagenet.
But I think that this type of enemy is better fought with a smaller force, (i.e. a scaple), better trained, better equiped, more flexibility. Rather than an entire army (i.e. a broadsword), big, clumsy, expensive, and no private contractors, which have no loyalty to the United States, unlike our Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Delta Force etc....

Notice how President Obama is keeping most of the Bush administration's anti-terror policies in place. Hopefully he will be convinced by all the former CIA directors (from Republican and Democrat administrations) that contacted him to drop the investigation into CIA interrogations. Move forward. The windshield is biggger than the rear-view mirror.

This is the reason why you no longer want to live in NYC. Eventually, they will get lucky and slip through. Their complaint is against Wall St. Imagine that! They have something in common with each and every ordinary American...they hate our Banks more than we do.

They will get slaps on the wrist. Convicted and disbarred lawyer Lynn Stewart was found guilty of providing material support to terrorists. She was sentenced to 28 MONTHS in prison by Clinton appointee Federal Judge John Koetl. She has not spent one day in jail yet. We do not take this threat seriously and unfortunately we will be hit again.
