Bush Went Against 'Free Market Instincts'
Former President Bush cannot, apparently, spot the contradiction. “I went against my free-market instincts and approved a temporary government intervention to unfreeze the credit marks so that we could avoid a major global depression,” Bush said at the unveiling of he George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, before going on to say that “History shows that the greater threat to prosperity is not too little government involvement, but too much.” He went on to warn the world against “the temptation to replace the risk and reward model of the private sector with the blunt instruments of government spending and control.”

Scary thing is, to him, this makes perfect sense.
The scarier thing is that it makes no sense to you.
So complete contradiction makes sense to you? That explains a lot.
No the scary thing is so many, like Bush, cannot recognize the errors of their actions, it really is to much government intervention when you: 1. Cut taxes drastically while increasing spending and new government programs. 2. Put in place deregulation policy which places all accountability in the hands of those formerly regulated. 3. Remove the competitive bidding process in awarding contracts to the military industrial complex. 4.Wage 2 wars at one time without properly funding and overseeing expenses related to them. 5. Ignore 4$ a gallon gas, and allow your investment clique to rape the markets them reward them with "temporary" stimulus. 6. Blame all the problems you create on others by claiming they are refusing to allow the free market to work.
President George was guilty of all the above which brings us to today and yet it still makes no sense to some,,, that is scary. As is the thought that GOP history repeaters are working diligently to spin their way back in power to deliver more of the same as a solution to all the problems they have created.
Bush the most stupid incompetent us president of all time.
@ Progessive 2...have you seen the most recent bush video on TDB?.. it's hiliariously stupid..can't wait for the bush defenders to comment on the video..
It baffles me that any American, of all people, can disagree with his comment on private sector vs government spending.
Truly you don't deserve your country.
AlexHam,
You truly don't know who Alexander Hamilton was. He was the strongest proponent of all the founding fathers for the idea of a strong central government w/a profound role in the economy. If you were less ignorant you'd know he was the prime force behind the commerce clause in the US constitution. If you were even less ignorant, you'd know he left the constitutional convention after the commerce clause was approved by the convention, confident that he'd assured the federal government would have a decisive say in the economic affairs of the nation. in short, you are a twit (or if you prefer, a twat).
read a book, sir, and you might surprise yourself with what you don't know.
phichibe
Do you acctually believe the horse sh*t you write? Truly you deserve to be ignored.
Bush is an embarrassment to this country. He's better off keeping a low profile. Cheney and Palin should take the hint too.
Worst.
President.
Ever.
So he was for "free markets" before he was against "free markets" in order to "avoid a major global depression". And now he's for "free markets" again after he was against "free markets" before he was for "free markets"... Yep, that sounds like Bush.
I don't know about you but im starting to miss the Bush man.
It can only be stubborn ignorance which refuses to allow, even the most gullible, to admit the man and his policies led to the failure of the markets and thus the economy. But to openly admit you long for more of the same? I dont know, maybe your just a glutton for punishment or a closet masochist. I think the rest of the country is truly searching for new solutions out of this Bush mess we are in.
If you guys delete this, I'm gonna knock you upside your head...seriously. Anyways, Bush is a combination of Richie Rich the poor little rich boy and Rodney Dangerfield who can't get no respect.
What kind of legacy has he left when all most people have for him and his enablers is scorn and contempt.
Thank you.
