Bush's T.M.I. Problem

Someone call the Geek Squad: the National Archives needs an upgrade. Their new $144 million computer system can barely handle the influx of data expected when the Bush administration comes to its official end. The electronic footprint of the last eight years—including 20-24 terabytes of email alone—is 50 times as large as that of the Clinton administration. "The collection will include top-secret e-mail tracing plans for the Iraq war as well as scenes from the likes of Barney Cam 2008, a White House video featuring the first pet," the New York Times reports. It's no joke for the National Archives, which is now on an emergency plan to manage the data swarm. It could be months before everything is indexed and organized.
