Cheney Admits Plame Role

Dick Cheney
Mindaugas Kulbis / AP

So much for Bush’s promise that whoever leaked Valerie Plame’s name would be found and punished. According to a secret FBI report leaked to investigative reporter Murray Waas, Dick Cheney admitted to FBI investigators he deliberately rewrote briefing notes for the press to ensure the name of Plame, a CIA agent, would be revealed, to punish her husband Joe Wilson for doubting the existence of Saddam’s WMD program. “That Cheney, by his own admission, had revised the talking points in an effort to have the reporters examine who sent Wilson on the very same day that his chief of staff was disclosing to Miller Plame’s identity as a CIA officer may be the most compelling evidence to date that Cheney himself might have directed Libby to disclose Plame’s identity to Miller and other reporters,” Waas concludes. Libby’s deliberate obfuscation, even though it ensured his conviction for hindering a federal investigation, will ensure that it will never be known whether Cheney ordered Plame’s name leaked, Waas reports.

Shocking! I am so disappointed the president would do such a thing - oh wait, I mean the vice president. Perhaps there's more to Dick being "vice" president than we realized.

Cheney is the most UnAmerican person to have ever had an office in the White House, a man with contempt for the Constitution, for the other laws of the land, and he has no morals whatsoever. He is a political psychopath.

Anyone who didn't REALLY know Scooter was simply carrying Cheney's water was either mired deep in self-delusion, or working for the mainstream media.

Come on Daily Beast, don't jump the gun. There isn't any real evidence. You really need to tone down the headline. I know it's juicy sounding, but there's no actual meat in this article. Wait for a real newspaper to break teh news before you just start linking "crooks and liars" and claim authoritative journalism

It'll be interesting to see what evidence comes to light after the Bush Administration ends.

Why do we put up with this BS?

President Bush commuted Libbys 30 month sentence for outing Plame (what would be construed as Treason if anyone outside of the Bush Administration had done the same) saying it created a hardship on Libby's family. OK, so anyone with a 30 month sentence should get the same commutation, expecially if they didn't commit such a Treasonous crime. Ah, but they didn't commit this crime at the request of the Vice Pres Cheney - so they don't get the commuted sentence. And Cheney was supposedly trying to discredit Wilson by inferring nepotism as the reason for the "junket". Again, this administrations leaders show they blatant hyprocrisy.

Why isn't Cheney in court facing Treason charges? Why do we allow the President to short circuit the law of the land and criminal justice by pardoning their friends, relatives, etc.? This constitutional boondoggle should be changed to make sure "nepotism" doesn't figure into any pardons, especially last minute, or even post election pardons.

As Bush has said and demonstrated, the law of the land doesn't apply to him, his administration, his friends or anyone else that does his bidding.

Why do we put up with this BS?

Appartently most of you don't understand that Libby didn't "out" Plame and neither did Cheney.

Appartently most of you don't understand the Joe Wilson was discredited by the Media due to lying about his role this whole scandal.

The only liars were the Wilson's.Tim Russert told Libby about Plame and then claimed a "foggy" memory on the subject. Libby had a similar memory laspe, but an angry jury convicted him anyway.
