Colbert Report Sponsors U.S. Speedskating

Author Photo - Stephen Colbert

Speedskating will be getting a whole new kind of exposure now that The Colbert Report has stepped up as the sport's new sponsor. The fake-news show swooped in to save the struggling Olympic team after its main sponsor, DSB Bank NV, declared bankruptcy last month, leaving the team little time to attract new sponsors. The show isn't making up the $300,000 sponsorship gap by handing over cold hard cash, but rather calling on Colbert fans for donations. Gold medalist Dan Jansen appeared on the Report Monday with U.S. Speedskating's executive director, who acknowledged it as an "unconventional arrangement." But it's worked in the past, when the show raised money for a charity for injured service members.

MaliciousDisorder

Isn't Colbert an entertainer who inspires to gain a level of influence, popularity and wealthy as that nasty entertainer Rush Limbaugh ? Is this why he's sponsoring this gig, more face time ?
I'll bet he'd love to be hated by 20% of America. Maybe he should call Rush and get his project off the ground.

Does anyone have a Trollese-English dictionary? As far as I can tell, Mal's trying to be snarky about something but all that's coming out is jibberish.

Here, Mal, you can have this one for free. It's not very good but it's punchy, topical and makes the same Rush/Colbert joke I can only assume you were going for.

"How long do you think it will be before some of the burlier speedskaters refuse to skate for a Colbert sponsored team because of his long history of anti-bear hate speech?"

This venture is like opening a restaurant, it'll last 6 months.

Hoo-RAY! for Colbert.

Not only is he funny, but he's a patriot too! Thanks for sponsoring our Olympic speed-skaters.

USA! USA! USA! USA!

I'm with you on that, Plant. Isn't it nice that Comedy Central has the cojones to balance out that liberal mouthpiece John Stewart with a strong conservative comedian?
