Conservatives Watch More Porn

guy watching television

A new study finds that people in red states consume more pornography than their blue-state peers. Though the disparity is "not so stark," reseracher Benjamin Edelman found a positive correlation between a state's consumption of internet smut and its conservativeness and religiosity. Edelman used credit card data to tabulate porn consumption and controlled for regional differences in internet access and adjusted for population. Utah tops the porn consumption list with 5.47 "adult content subscriptions" her 1000 broadband internet users. Montana broke the red state mold but clocking the fewest subscriptions: 1.92 per 10000. Eight of the top 10 porn consuming states went for John McCain in 2008. (Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions.) States where a majority of residents say they "have old-fashioned values about family and marriage" bought more porn than those who disagreed with that statement. The same trend applies to places where people think "AIDS might be God's punishment for immoral sexual behavior."

It is an infantile superstition of the human spirit that virginity would be thought a virtue and not the barrier that separates ignorance from knowledge
- Voltaire, In Sex/Abstinence

I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world.
Bertrand Russell (1872-1970)

"...this monkey mythology of Darwin is the cause of permissiveness, promiscuity, prophylactics, perversions, pregnancies, abortions, pornotherapy, pollution, poisoning and proliferation of crimes of all types."
Judge Braswell Dean, Time Magazine, March 1981

At a PTL convention, the hotel reported that over 80% of the conventionites watched at least one X-rated movie on the hotel's pay-per-view cable...

"Of course it is not reasonable to expect the Fundamentalist mind to hold anything approaching a real and adequate conception of science; to have any knowledge of scientific methods of investigation; any understanding of the scientific attitude; any appreciation of the scientific spirit; or any respect for the integrity of the scientific mind. Indeed it is the inability to do these things that leaves the unfortunates exposed to the Fundamentalist blight. It is the ability to do these things that distinguishes intelligent persons from Fundamentalists."
-Clay Fulks

True story. But I hear that liberals "color outside the lines" more often. I don't even know what that means, but I'm sure it is true because I think someone wrote an article that said so.

Completely unscientific BS "study". You can't determine the political persuasion of a credit card. Even red states have conservatives, liberals, and independents.

it is predominantly men who look at porn, and what state they are in or what political party they are makes no difference.

Perfect! These obnoxious people constantly trying to convert everyone they see to their "faith" are the largest consumers of porn...Amazing, amusing and I wonder if they offer porn as a tenant of their belief and an incentive to join up...ha ha ha

I don't trust this article because there are no details about the study and how it was conducted.

Don't be gullible just because you want to believe ill of people who believe differently than you.

More proof that ideological conservatism is self-defeating. I suppose studies will now find ideological liberals pollute more and ideological libertarians are authoritarians in their own homes.

Red states also have far more cases of rape, violence, and molestation per capita.
When your not allowed to express your sexuality, it often comes out in other ways.

This article is as credible and relevant as the promises of hope and change we can believe in. It serves only to polarize and isolate those who question the lies, deception, and hypocrisy of the leftist ideologues. Too late. The lines in the sands of America have already been drawn and the fight is on.

Many of the red states are the poorest and the least educated. It would be interesting to see the results of a study investigating the correlation between porn and education.

I wouldn't mind if they were really conservative but they aren't anymore.

Now they sit in judgement of other people being exactly what they rail against.

God point Amiblue

Another would be "who's dumb enough to believe the republicans are working for you?"

Staets with the least education spending are usually GA, LA, AR MS and Alabama. All in the deep south.

FL is low too but they have a lot of seniors bringing spending down.
