Uninvited

Couple Crashes State Dinner

It seems that two partygoers at last night's state dinner weren't actually invited. A DC socialite couple were able to get into the party honoring Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, despite lacking invitations; the Secret Service, which says it will be looking into its security procedures, said that the President was never in danger, since the couple went through the same security screening as all the invited guests. The couple, identified as Michaele and Tareq Salahi, consists of a hopeful reality TV show star (Michaele is said to be hoping for a spot on an upcoming Real Housewives of DC) and the man who founded "America's Polo Cup." The service learned about the gatecrashers thanks to journalists asking about the revelers online boasts and the photos on their Facebook page. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn were not available for comment.

Interesting. Demi Moore's photo shoot is first an air brush job and then her face pasted on a models body, and of course two TV wanna bees post some photos of them at a state dinner. If it REALLY happened, then the entire Secret Service should resign and leave government service or be prosecuted for dereliction of duty and sent to Guantanamo. If it didn't happen then the couple should be prosecuted for fraud. You are wrong, we aren't getting sloppy, WE THE PEOPLE are simply lazy. Too lazy to question what someone posts on Face Book.
Shouldn't we wait until someone gathers the facts, like verifying that they were actually at the party before making decisions of guilt and innocence? Because if we don't do this, wait for the facts to come in, a lot of dedicated Secret Service people are about to be fired for dereliction of duty.

People are just getting to sloppy with everything. I am not a fan of Obama but I know to many Americans he is a hero. I would not want anything bad to happen to him for that reason. I think his policies are bad for a free people, but he was elected and I am perfectly willing to wait to 2012 to unseat him. Unless he wants to resign than I'd be really thrilled. Lets all pray that we never wish harm to our own people, whether we agree with their politics or religion or sex orientation. When I saw this on tv, I had a real creepy feeling. I just want everyone on this site to know I love politics and am passionate about my feelings, but I wish no one harm or evil to any of you, the president or his family. sincerely tolatetocry May God bless America and may each of us look beyond ourselves and look out for all of us together. End of speech

Even though I don't care much for his policies. I will be voting for him in 2012. It's either Obama or some fascist Republican!

I think "sloppy" is the right description. This administration that ran a fairly tight campaign is extremely sloppy about every single detail. I would add "confused" as well. Really how on earth do two strangers without an invite get into this event? There is NO excuse and heads do need to roll no matter who's head it is. It has been reported several times that the secret service detail has become much more relaxed because this president doesn't like the lack of freedom. Maybe he shouldn't have taken the job. Bill never complained and neither did Bush. It is part of the package.

The Secret Service is the same no matter who is in the office. The problem seems to have come with Bush's shifting them to be under Homeland Security and their budget being so small for the job they have to do. Even though President Obama may chafe a bit with the uber security, he understands it and doesn't try to get in the way of his security detail. He may choose to do some things that they probably wish he wouldn't but he doesn't duck his security or anything foolish. I think this was an example of a lack of staff due to the small budget of only 1.4 million . That's pennies for an organization whose job has increased 400% due to threats against this president. That is a shameful picture of American life- that threats against a president from right here in the US, would increase that much.

What do Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn have to do with this?

Surely TDB isn't suggesting that this stunt has anything to do with the Wedding Crashers movie, or some such nonsense.

I worked as a butler @ Danielle Steels (I know)..no one could get in just by chance, we had a guest list and five secretaries and security at the door..a good social director would be walking around all night saying "who is that" ? etc.. so yeah, they are not doing their jobs. Unbelievable. And please folks Obama is no worse than the others..give him a chance.

I subscribe to the idea that babes should not be held to any laws. Michaele was a plus at that gig.

Can Obama not do anything right -- without his teleprompter??

Seriously, he cannot even control security at the White House!! How can we rely upon him protecting the security of this Country??

As each day goes by, I just become increasingly disappointed in the president.

(Wonder who he will blame for this? Bush wasn't anywhere around, but Rahm Emanuel will probably come up with some sort of a connection!)

Are you under the mistaken impression that the President is in charge of his security detail? That he makes decisions like that? Have you a scintilla of knowledge about anything related to the Secret Service?

...and in addition to his responsibilities as the head of White House Security, President Obama is in charge of conducting the tours, seeing that the gardeners keep the Rose Garden weed-free and that there are always current magazines available to those visitors who may wish to read on the Truman Balcony. Sir, you are sadly misinformed as to what constitutes the duties of the President of the United States. You use this ignorance to belittle him but only end up making a fool of yourself.

WHITE HOUSE WANNABE

So you think Obama seems strangely detached.

And what if I told you he knows he's mismatched,

That he ran for the office like a dynamo

To improve his chances for a reality show.

Isn't this a federal offence? The reality show they may be seen on is only shown on Closed Circuit TV.

I think it is funny BUT they could have done real damage to this whole nation.... I am sorry to say this because it is sort of funny that John Boner chose not to attend & instead another boner head took his spot BUT they need to be punished severely for what they did so as to stop this from happening again..... Maybe 1000 hours of community service to the poor & homeless for each serving food, making beds, washing linens, cleaning & in general taking care of the poor would teach them a well deserved lesson.....

These two imbeciles won't be laughing when they are charged and convicted of lying to a Federal official. A year in a Federal prison will wipe the smiles of these so-called reality leeches. You would have thought with a name like Tareq Salahi (Arab??) he would have drawn a little more suspicion from our highly trained Secret Service. God forbid.

Never in danger? Give me a break. As Campbell Brown said on CNN: They may have passed security but aren't there utensils on the tables, forks, knives, etc., that can be used as weapons?
