Crowd Boos as Palin Quits Book Signing

CS - Sarah Palin Booed
Tom Uhlman / AP Photo

Sarah Palin disappointed fans in Noblesville, Indiana, when she abruptly quit her book signing. The large crowd had heartily cheered the former vice-presidential candidate when she arrived holding youngest child Trig at 5:30 p.m. at a Borders bookstore. The store handed out wristbands so that the first 1,000 customers could get their books signed, but the event ended promptly at 9 p.m., leaving several wristbanded attendees' books without an autograph. One fan said, "We gave up our entire workday, stayed in the cold. My kids were crying... I feel like I don't want to support Sarah." Others were far less diplomatic: Video shows hecklers shouting, "Quittin' on the job!"

Finally, a moment of stunned silence from the Palinistas who are at a loss on how to explain people booing their diva.

So liberals are wailing

Plant, pathetic response - you're the one wailing here. Watch the video, it's her fans who stood out in the cold all day waiting for her to autograph the books they purchased only to have her leave, who are screaming and booing.

Let's see we have people who wanted a free signature so they could sell the book on Ebay complaining about SP who is undoubtedly on a tight schedule, possibly giving another $100,000 speech in the morning.

Did I miss something? Or did Plantagenet?
Did liberals say Palin is bailing?
Or. Did she bail?
Has anyone been able to prove that the video was edited? Like the crowds at the Bachmann rally?

Your remark, Carole, further strengthens the old saw: The best defense is a good offense. One doesn't need to be a "Palinphobic" as you so cleverly stated to note that she is quite self-serving even when all those folks came out to see only her.

Dude, she spent almost 4 hours signing nearly 1,000 copies of her book at ONE STOP... most authors would kill to have that many fans show up for their ENTIRE BOOK TOUR!!!

She sold over 300,000 copies of her book on day 1... by comparison, Bill Clinton's 2004 book opened with 400,000 copies sold, and Hillary's book in '03 sold 200,000 copies. And just today, HarperCollins announced they're upping the initial print run of 1.5 million to 2.5 million... that's a 66% increase!

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jlxDCO3o2Lipkwnit2WjvF 0TCa5gD9C3II6G0

Not too shabby for someone who's completely "irrelevant"... not to mention the fact that the AP deemed it fit to put 11 "fact-checkers" on duty for Palin's book... where are these so-called "fact-checkers" on the current President's own books??? Let alone stuff that actually matters, like the health care bill and the stimulus with its completely imaginary, so-called "jobs created or saved", including "jobs" in districts that don't even exist!

nightdragon09, WHY ARE U COMPARING THE AMOUNT OF SALES ON SARAH'S BOOK TO THE CLINTON'S?? WHAT DIFFERENCE WOULD IT MAKE?? WHAT I CAN TELL YOU IS THAT THE CLINTON'S DIDNT HAVE FREE ADVERTISEMENT THE WAY FOX HAS BEEN DOING. I LOVE THEIR COMMERCIALS ON HOW "SARAH PALIN'S BOOK IS ALREADY A BEST SELLER AND IS NOT EVEN OUT IN BOOKSTORES YET" LMAO.
WITH THAT KIND OF PHONY MARKETING, IT'S NOT SURPRISING THAT SHE SOLD SO MANY BOOKS. SO THAT MAKES HER BOOK BETTER?
GIMME A BREAK WILL YA.

@nortonclybourn... Dude, WTF is a "Governron"?

@deegee... slammed by who? Only ones I can think of who ever criticized his books were Fox News, but then again they're not a REAL news organization, right?

@yankeechump... I mean, champ2009... I was comparing the book sales of Sarah Palin, a half-term governor (not governRON) from the least-populated state in the country, to that of a very popular (at least among Dems and the media) former president and former first lady / senator who is equally as famous as her husband... to illustrate the impact that she has had on the nation and how many people love her and are inspired by her, no matter how much you libs try to say otherwise. And you're gonna sit there and tell me that she sold all those books just because of Fox News, and that Bill and Hillary Clinton... a former (and very recent) PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY... didn't have "free advertising"??? Ummm... isn't being a former leader of the world's most powerful nation enough free advertisement in and of itself when it comes to selling books???

|

Linney

J.K. Rowling signed autographs all night (from midnight until the morning) for all 7 of her books when they came out and she read excerpts. I have no sympathy for Palin. Those people weren't there because she's some awesome author, either. I think it's pretty obvious they wanted to meet her. She's a crappy author, for sure who probably wrote very little of the book herself. She signed nearly 1000 but not the whole 1000 and that's the point. She said she would sign them all and she didn't. She failed, once again. It's about her, not Clinton and not Obama.

|
3:12 pm, Nov 22, 2009

diamondgirl

Oh, naturally you would jump on this one Stalker, the people were upset because they didnt get their books signed, Palin is making arrangements to have every one of their books signed and she already apologized.
Its not because they dont like her they boo, its because they want her signature on the books they bought...

I am amazed that Palin is creating such a stir with the left. Perhaps it is because she is a threat to their ideal of what a woman should be, whatever that is.

I expect that Palin will make many "mistakes" while under the microscope of the left wing and the media, but it still goes to show that she must be a threat. While our Secretary of State's only accomplishments were a failed health care "plan" and questionable billing practices at her law firm, Palin has at least taken over an executive position, been personally responsible for turning her state around, making payroll, and identifying things that matter to Alaska. She has been a hard target of the left ever since she became the VP candidate. Had she been more left wing, she either would be praised right now or ignored altogether.

While johnnieg is concerned about someone who "stayed in the cold" to get her signature and was obviously disappointed, I wonder how much johnnieg is concerned about the loss of jobs due to this "stimulous" package?

We are witness to the biggest public money grab in history and like dutiful lemmings we are following the leader, who is truly "changing" our way of life right before our eyes. Some say he is doing a good job with what he was handed. Well, I say he is not. John Kennedy did better in the 60's when he turned around the economy with tax cuts and streamlined government. Lyndon Johnson nearly destroyed us with his "Great Society" plans and his Vietnam policy. Reagan got us back on track with his economic plans and tax cuts that led to over 12 years of growth, Clinton took over "the worst economy in 30 years" (which was BS) and by the end of his 8 years had slowed the growth and started the recession. Bush inheritied a falling economy, then 911, but his tax cuts turned it around and then approved budgets that were stupic. Yes, he ended his term with a mess, but how much of that was policies (Ie Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, etc)

Since Obama has been in office he has increased the debt, decreased jobs, reinforced companies with our tax money that should have failed, paid off the Unions with stock ownership of companies that they helped destroy, did nothing to easy bank lending policy, and has spent a year on health care instead of jobs. That is clearly a man without clear priorities. Now he thinks the government can do a better job at health care, with the track record of public housing, New Orleans, Social Services, Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, and the like, why shouldn't I be concerned? I am not confident that kind of leadership will improve things.

We spend all this time on Palin who was from a state by herself and we are ignoring the nonsense that is going on in Washington DC. If the left is worried about Palin, and not the economic mess they helped create with their "feel good" politics, than I suggest we have bigger problems than whether a citizen waits in the cold for a book to be signed.

What a lame crowd (video). Hell, I was at a Jane's Addiction concert in Philly (Tower Theater) and they walked off the stage after about 30 minutes. People started busting the seats, breaking windows and throwing beer bottles at the tour bus. There were cop cars, fire trucks and ambulances. People were getting clubbed arrested and trampled. I was in the bar across the street watching from the door.

I'd hate to have to live in Indiana. What pussies.

Low self esteem, Uneducated Philadelphians can't stand the thought of being

Uneducated? The Philadelphia region has the most colleges and universities per square mile in the country.

NYC is NYC, the greatest city in the World. Boston is a bunch of uppity snobs, and DC... well, if you'd rather live in DC than Philly, there's something seriously wrong with you.

And I'd rather be "classless", than a pussy.

Let's see.......she's scheduled to sign books from 5:30 to 9:00. She signs books from 5:30 to 9:00.

Some yo-yo expected her to autograph 1,000 books in 3 1/2 hours? That would be about 300/hr, or 5/minute, or about 1 every 10 seconds. The fact that anyone is willing to sign their name repeatedly for 3 1/2 hours, shows dedication. Nobody in the world could have signed 1000.

I'm lovin' how the liberal left sees her as, and expects her to be, Super Woman. If only the left expected half that much from our current POTUS. Oh, no, couldn't be, cause we'd all be told he's only human. Let's weigh that..........only human vs Super Woman. Yep, that must be why they are worried.

And this was posted for you by someone who is not yet a "Palinite". I like a lot of her policies (not all), but the left is definitely pushing me to focus on her. The more I see, the more I like.

I agree. There was a singular, very loud, male voice doing most of the booing.

If anyone is interested in how the media treated the Obama booksigning tour,

http://cbs2chicago.com/local/Barack.Obama.The.2.332948.html

Tells about the lines, standing in the rain, skipping classes, etc. But the rest is very amusing, and oh-so different from the treatment given the Palin signing. Not once did they mention how many were in line to get a book signed. No report of how many did or didn't get their's signed. Oh, and they reported how "everyone" was just "gushing" over Obama. But we have no idea.....could have been only 100 in line.

If you don't believe that the whole Obama thing was a heavy duty sales job from a leftist media, do your own comparison of the booksigning articles on Obama, and the ones on Palin. At least we now have some transparency.......of the MSM.

Doesn't sound like Sarah? You bet it does. She quits, although with a brain or common sense she would see that she would have to sit in the parking lots and sign books. It's all a come on. She quit Alaska when she found out something more was required than just sitting at her desk and posing for pictures. Her book is full of lies that are so transparent I'm disappointed. Don't put something in print that can be so easily checked should be the first rule. But her fans don't even know what she thinks. One wearing a T-shirt against the bailout was told that she was for it. (True.) "Where did you get that information?" She's little more than a good looking cheerleader who wants to be a talk show host or a figure head president while others do the work.

"I don't know anything about who is responsible for all that, so I don't know where the problem occured."

The problem occurred because "someone" agreed to sign 1000 autographs in three-and-a-half hours with a special needs child in tow. To autograph that many books in that amount of time, she'd have to sign one every 12.5 seconds. Not likely.

But then, if "someone" had set the signing limit at a more reasonable number, like maybe 300 (giving each book buyer a generous half-minute or so) it would have reduced the size of the cheering crowd by more than 2/3.

That just wouldn't do. No...not at all.

Better to disappoint many of those who did show up, than to draw a crowd so small it wouldn't make the news.

Actually the first run was not as large as you say and the second run will not be as large as you say either. The total for the two printings will be 1.6 million copies TOTAL. I know you right wingers like to inflate numbers, a la' your Tea Parties, but it gets kind of ridiculous after a while when any reasonable person can look up the actual numbers online. I've posted a link to the actual numbers below.

This is just golden entertainment value being paraded around as political intrigue.

It's almost as if it's all scripted...

But there is NO WAY that could happen here... right?

Greta just showed video from book signing in Cincinnati, thousands showed up. She looked as happy as can be, but I don't see any way she could sign all those books for all those people, there were thousands!

Not good enough to cry-
People who made mistakes at Acorn were fired, and that didn't satisfy you conservatives lust for punishment.
You are a hypocrite.

Fox is the #1 in cable news just minus a couple of employee's at the moment

Finally her fans get to see a little bit of what the rest of us see every time we look at her: nothing.

5 will get you 10 that in the next few days someone connected to Palin rolls out an excuse / explanation as to how this was someone else's fault.

Sarah suddenly realized that it will it is in the best interest of the book owners that their books not be signed by her, so she quit signing them and took off. It was her responsibility and was costing the book owners too much of their time by her signing their books. She hopes by doing this she can do more inspirational book things in the future from other locations. Look for a statement on her Facebook page on how Obama is ruining book signings through taxing pens and making lines mandatory at all types of signing type events.
