Female Cop Downed Gunman

Meet Officer Kimberly Munley, the police officer who downed the alleged Fort Hood gunman. Munley reached the scene quickly, reportedly within three minutes. According to Fort Hood commanding general Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, she "just happened very fortunately to be close to the incident scene." Munley was wounded as she exchanged fire with the gunman, whom she shot four times. Cone praised her performance as "amazing and aggressive," confirming that Munley was the one who ended the murderous rampage by dropping Army psychiatrist and alleged killer Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

Why is it newsworthy when a female cop shoots someone? They're cops like the rest of 'em; they're supposed to shoot people. This is the most UN-newsworthy piece I've ever read.

A male officer injured in the line of duty taking out a killer would be singled out and praised. Why do you not wish the same for a female officer?

I dont know dd, maybe I'm easily impressed, but for some reason in my old fashion way of thinking, I am more impressed that a female cop was able to stop this mad man.

I do think it is newsworthy. On a base of many male soldiers, it was this one female cop who prevented the deaths of perhaps many more innocent people.

Whether it was fate-luck or devine intervention, I am very glad that she was close by and able to respond.

You don't often read "Heroine" and it has to do with female heroics. YEAH!

Good work Officer Munley. Get well soon - we need more police officers like you; quick thinking and a good shot.
