Negotiations

Fran Drescher on Fox News?

Ready your mute button: Washington Whispers is reporting that Fran Drscher, the former star of The Nanny, is in negotiations with Fox News for a talk show. Figures that the conservative network, when searching for a liberal—Drescher is a Democrat—would choose one who is nearly impossible to listen to. Drescher has served in the State Department as a public diplomacy envoy, and is also in talks with MSNBC.

Nick: Do some research. I think you would be surprised at Drescher's commitment to women's health issues, and how much of an impact she's had regionally.

Ha. interesting. I wonder if the plan will backfire and Drescher will end up having a large following from her "Nanny" days. Then again, the shows been off the air for a while.

Even if you couldn't watch the show, you could use it to peel paint.

Ms. Drescher has done more lobbying for women's cancer research and stateside healthcare than many of her professional peers. Give her props. If she goes to Fox, are Rush and Glenn ready for this virtual tiger?

I can't figure out these people like Fran Drescher and John Stoessel who are committing career suicide by joining Fox News. No organization is more disreputable in the US today than Fox News. It even taints Fox Entertainment with its smell. Hear that Ellen?

I like the idea of Fran Drescher and John Stoessel joining Fox News. Juan Williams and Mara Liasson could use the company. I just hope they don't turn to the Dark Side.

whip:

Fran is a good friend of Rosie O's. If she caves and goes to the dark side, Rosie will gather a posse and they will do an intervention.

I think she just needs to earn a buck.

Stossel thrived on yellow journalism and fear-mongering on 20/20. He'll be right at home with Roger Ailes.

Drescher will try to do some good.

She can give Stossel some instruction in intensifying his "nagging yenta" voice. He's already part way there, and Franny is a master at it (hesitate to say "mistress.).

Actually Fran Drescher is pretty smart, which says to me that she'll go nuts at Fox.

Looks like they finally found a replacement for Colmes. To show they are "fair and balanced" Fox chooses another weak liberal personality. How bold of them.

Surely you're not referring to Stossel when you say "weak liberal personality?" Stossel thrives on cheap polemics, and it's easiest to do that from the POV of the Right. Perfect quality "news" from Fox.

I've heard Drescher talk in her normal voice, which she exaggerates for 'The Nanny' and it's pleasant enough. Interesting that TBD managed to spell her name correctly and incorrect in the same article summary.

i don't watch fox other than o'really (i read and listen from a broad spectrum.) the knee jerk reaction to anything fox substantiates the free fall of sat scores beginning in the late 60's. enjoy your ignorance.
