French Voted World's Worst Tourists
Is there a Frenchman nearby refusing to tip a waiter in broken English? They're everywhere, according to Expedia, which ranked the French as being the worst tourists in the world. Viewed as arrogant penny-pinchers with poor grasps on foreign languages, the French managed to rub 4,500 international hotel owners the wrong way. "The French don't go abroad very much," Expedia Marketing Director Timothy de Roux explained of his country's poor manners. "We're lucky enough to have a country which is magnificent in terms of its landscape and culture." French tourists also don't realize discrepancies between their culture and others, like tipping on a restaurant bill, he said. The upside, if there is one, comes in the form of fashion sense: French tourists took third place behind the Italians and the British on vacation apparel. Expedia voted the Japanese the best tourists in the world for the second year in a row.

ABC did a segment on this. After tricking some europeans with fake "ugly american tourists" they asked around and took a survey - the French were the worsts tourists.
I do think a stereotype the French do live up to is that they are snots at home and quiet rude abroad.
Most of the rude French are dealing with tourists all day. But if you live in France you are interacting with hardware store clerks, neighbors, delivery people, who are lovely. As far as French tourists are concerned, I don't know. They go to Spain occasionally but don't look very happy.

We accept anything. EXPEDIA does a survey and we like the results so we go ahead and publish them. Who answered that survey? Hotel owners?? I am sorry but saying that the French are the worst and no giving much more details is not journalism. The British were just after the Italians for "best dressed"?! Again, who was polled?
Yeah, but the results fit in with many's personal experience.
I never liked the French since they bombed Springfield for Mayor Quimby's harmless "Frog's Legs" joke.
