Heads to Roll Over Doctored Footage?

Is Fox News going to start holding its anchors accountable? The Swamp reports that heads could roll after the network was caught misrepresenting footage for the second time in a week. Shortly after Jon Stewart nailed Sean Hannity for a similar crime, Fox News host Greg Jarrett was caught claiming that footage from a McCain-Palin rally was, in fact, from Palin’s book tour. "This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn't alert the control room to update the video,'' Michael Clemente, senior vice president of news at Fox, said. "There will be an on-air explanation during Happening Now on Thursday." The Swamp says “serious disciplinary action” is planned.

WE are talking about a misrepresentation by a News Org. Chris Matthews, saying he got a tingle down his leg (referring to Obama) was just a remark, not a lie or misrepresentation. You don't seem to know the difference, Demsdisorder.

Hey whiney - what's your proof of lying from CNN & MSNBC? Verifiable proof - not NewsMax or some other half-assed reich-wing rag. Maybe you've forgotten that Faux went to court for the legal ability to lie - it's part of their entire make up now.

If you don't have proof, take your BS remarks somewhere else - throwing lies like that around only cheapen you like your media-whore icons like Prejean, Palin, Coulter, et al.

They are not "mistakes", and they do make a difference. Odd that it only seems to happen at a place like Fox, which is ever eager to create "news" (such as those stupid "tea parties")

If Fox actually follows through and does suddenly become a real news organization, focusing on facts instead of propaganda, who will be most responsible for holding them accountable? Jon Stewart at the Daily Show, not the "real" news organizations, which should be holding each other accountable.

You mean like doctored, fabricated and propagandistic interviews like the Great Katie Couric's interview of Palin during the election??? HOURS of footage were shot..Couric and the "news staff" sucker punched Palin by editing and selecting those pieces that fit the view of Palin they wanted people to see.
You mean like 60 minutes??? When Mike Wallace would ask a bolt from the blue question and the camera would crawl up the lucky recipients nostrils for a shot showing some sort of quivering????

I've watched CBS..NBC..ABC and CNN for years..I'm used to fiction! At least Fox has entertainment value...liberals generally don't like it because taken as a group the news people and talk hosts aren't Obama fanny sniffers...nothing upsets the new Wehrmacht worse than those who fail to join the club.

"hours of footage"? They were strolling in front of the UN and Palin had a number of campaign stops that day, along with meeting "other world leaders" (what a joke that she was lumped in with them) at the UN. And how can anyone not answer a question about what publications she reads regularly? How is that a "sucker punch", unless she's mentally incompetent? Your comments are just more distortions from a wingnut.

Actually I'd love to see the other hours of the Palin interview. I bet it has tons of juicy goodness that they had to cut out because it didn't put Palin in a good light. Being as the questions were handed to Palin prior to the interview she should have been more prepared for the interview and she wasn't, who's fault is that? It isn't Couric's.

I love how the teabaggers plastered walls with the Obamajoker face fascist photos without the accompanying one with Bush's face.. way to pick and choose.. if you are going to be a New World Order conspiracy nut, go ahead.. but don't forget the other side.

btw Alex Jones now works for the religious right, and has lost all credibility... even in the raving lunatic circles..

alright go 2 www.outfoxed.org and get the documentary; "OUTFOXED" it shows not just testimonials from former employee's of Fox stating they were told what to say and who to bash, BUT it has C.I.A. employee testimonials regarding the war...what's really true is people who work for those agencies aren't paid to lie- nor do they profit from it- like a certain group of politicians/ "reporters" do/could.
So- get the documentary "Outfoxed:Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" and think.
My only argument is that the filmmakers doesn't like Republicans-which bothers me...I happen to like conservatives just enough to think that its trash T.V. and FOX news is similar to the National Enquirer, they deserve better.
And do they need to be lied to in order to be controlled(?)seems that way.

They are not really making it up. Listening to these people is the same as listening to the Heritage Foundation. Pretty much all their talking points come from there. The H. Foundation is a "New Right Think tank" organization set up in the early 70's, they have a long history of donations from overseas and early on was supported by the Moonies, probably still is. Ronald Regan and GW Bush relied on the H. Foundation for their policy directions. In more recent years, Limbeaugh, Hannity etal. are huge supporters and take their marching orders from the Foundation. They generally hold that their views are the ONLY views that have value and that they, alone, know what's best for Americans, actually, the world. So, there is something to fear about Limbeaugh, Hannity etal. By all means watch them, but do so with some understanding. If you visit the Heritage Foundation web site, I am quite sure you will recognize many, if not most, of the current antiObama talking points. Just consider the source.

You are right. They have been caught in other "mistakes" but it wasn't until John Stewart pointed it out that the everything they do is scrutinized. The fact that they made another mistake tell me this kind of crap is just business as usual for them.

Even if it were a mistake, that in itself is huge news. Are we to believe that fox news is so disorganized that they don't file anything away in their archives?

I think what really burns them is that they were caught by their nemesis John Stewart of the Daily Show. They are in a tough spot right now--everybody is watching more closely so it can't be business as usual.

The have no way to win this--they have nowhere to hide. They are either so sloppy that all their news must be considered inaccurate and unreliable, or, they deliberately manipulate the news (which isn't news anymore, is it?)

Well now FOX identified their own error (2nd one). I'll bet that someone loses their job. I spent 30 years compiling Actuarial statistics, and I can guarantee that there is a big diff between the accuracy of various employees.

But while we're at it, can we discuss the voluminous errors on the Obama admin's web site that has reported hundred of thousands of our taxpayer money going to non-existent districts in states like AZ and FL? Not only does this site (which cost us $16 million to redesign) report false money distribution, but they are reporting saved jobs in the non-existent districts.

So using liberal logic that says if FOX made an error, then all of their broadcasts are lies, the same must apply to Obama. If his web site has multiple "errors", then that proves that everything he and his administration tells us are lies.

If you understood how the website works, you'd know that the states put in those reports. The states reported districts that don't exist. The administration has to correct all those errors that they did not make.

Now if you want to blame that on the POTUS, be my guest. Just don't expect people to pay much attention to you.

the scariest part is that some of these people who hold elected office believe this and their policy on environment is, God created this earth for us to do with it what we want and Jesus is coming soon, so cut down every tree, blow the tops of the mountains, empty the seas of fish, it doesn't matter, we won't be here for much longer...

and that is no joke... it is real! these people hold offices and make decisions for you and your children's future.

It doesn't go over most of their heads. They know what Fox claims and what they actually are.

Believe me, it makes them VERY happy that 'their' network is watched by more than any other. And they do know the definition of 'mainstream.' But, they tell themselves that 'mainstream' means any network they do not watch...

That they lie to themselves and everyone else is of no consequence. Changing the meaning of words is 100% legitimate to them.

"Jayson Blair was an American journalist until he resigned from the New York Times in May 2003, after he was caught plagiarizing and fabricating elements of his stories."

Does that work for you?

Or how about the "170,000" items stolen from a Haifa Museum? That was false. Then there are multiple "errors" that appeared on their front page, but their apologies for "errors" and outright lies are buried deep in the last pages.

False reporting is rampant in MSM. Occasionally, some of our "top" reporters have lost their jobs for reporting hearsay without validating facts. How can you miss so much? Or do you just choose to ignore them if the illicit attacks are against conservatives?

Second...do you mean the interview where she blamed the fort hood shootings on the fact that there isnt enough racial profiling of muslim americans going on? You sure you want to promote that?

|
9:34 am, Nov 19, 2009

DD3075

Rawhide, you exhibit the very prominent problem with radical liberals. You tend to paint with very broad brushes, missing the nuances.

The point is that - if you have a Muslim in continual contact with a radical imam (profiling), and he is giving public speeches promoting terrorist behavior (profiling), and he has "SOA" (soldier of Allah) embossed on his business cards (profiling), then you might want to pay extra attention to him. Just because he is a member of a minority, he should not be exempt to that profiling in an effort to be PC.

It's a helluva lot different than becoming suspicious of each and every Muslim. Get it? Just because one apple has a worm in it doesn't mean that all do, but you might want to check the ones with holes in them before you eat one. No hole....unlikely there's a worm inside.

The Chicago Tribune says that FAUX NOISE is, at long last, making a feeble attempt at cleaning up its act by discipling whom ever used an old video of Sarah Palin campigning for VP & passed it off as a tape on the crowds who came to Ms Palin's book tour.
I put my dentures under my pillow last night in hope of the tooth fairy taking my dentures & leave me $100,000.00. There was no money under my pillow & my dentures in the bath room this morning. Some legends or news in the Trib aren't true.
FAUX NOISE efforts to clean its ugly reputation of avoiding truth & slanting the new with a GOP view must be another Trib BS squib. The Trib also is noted for saying that Dewey beat Truman in 1948. If you're looking for truth-avoid the Trib & Sun-Times. Try the Chicago Defender.
