John Edwards' Paternity Test

CS - Rielle Hunter
AP Photo

The soap opera that is John Edwards' life just got worse. The National Enquirer, which first broke the story of Edwards' affair with Rielle Hunter, has now confirmed through a bevy of anonymous sources that a secret DNA test has proved that he is the father of Hunter's 18-month-old daughter, Frances. Currently, their lawyers are working out child support payments, according to the Enquirer. Edwards, who denied he was the child's father when he confessed his affair on ABC's Nightline last year, has also reportedly informed his cancer-stricken wife Elizabeth of the news. As if that weren't bad enough, Hunter has testified against Edwards before a federal grand jury that's investigating whether Edwards broke campaign finance law by funneling money to Hunter, charges that could land him in jail.

Of course it is news when one of the leaders of the democratic party is involved in an affair, a messy paternity controversy and is under investigation by the Feds for campaign law violations.

I fail to understand WHY you would call Rielle a hooker. Do you think it's possible that she could have had a baby with a man she loved? She said that he told her that they would be married sometime, as his wife has bone cancer. She did know he was married and should have known how the "game was played", but I don't believe she deserves the label of hooker.

hooker, whore.. what's the difference? she had an affair with a married man, got pregnant & then sold her story to the media. whatever label you want to stick her with, she's deserving of a derogatory one.

maryfrost2,she should have,if she loved him known he was a bum, because to play the presidential candidate, look in the mirror 100 times, have a family, have lost a child, have a wife dying of cancer, then if she loved him and wanted him after accepting who he was. She is the one, that should have said,As long as your wife is alive, you cannot do this. Then she would have gotten him. This was a lust, whatever, oldest story in the book,He is unforgivable, and if she wanted a married man, she should have picked one with a healthy wife. that said EE did not play clean, when she backed him up as a candidate knowing this would destroy the party.Well Rielle, came out good, she will get alot of money, for that baby. At the end Edwards, being a dog,was agood old sucker. She trapped him good. She was a hooker, cause she hooked and spotted a rich, cheat, unfaithfull narcistic dog.Shes good, this was nothing to do with love. She hooked him good, thats a good hooker.!!A pro.

I recent that Eliz Edwards knew he had an affair of this magnitude and let him run,she knew if he was elected, as the candidate, what this would have done to the party.I am sorry for her being ill, and he is nothing but a bum,But EE is a very smart woman,to have allowed him to run.and they could have been spared alot of misery. He has to pay for the baby, and all of them put together, but the baby are a mess..........

I hope John Edwards steps up soon and admits he is the father and makes an effort to be in his child's life. I'm amazed that his millions of supporters in the democratic party don't put some pressure on Edwards to acknowledge he is the father and do the right thing by his child.

John Edwards supporters in the democratic party gave him $48,839,093 for his 2008 Presidential campaign.

The feds are investigating whether Edwards diverted some of that 48 million into illegal payments to his mistress, Rielle.

I'm amazed that Rielle, the mother of Edward's child, would testify AGAINST him in the investigation. Isn't there a law in the US that wives don't have to testify against their husbands. Can mistresses be compelled to testify against their lovers? Isn't Rielle kind of a common-law wife to Edwards? But wouldn't that be a kind of common-law bigamy? So can unwed mothers be compelled to testify against the absent fathers? Did Rielle and her baby also commit a crime if they took the diverted campaign money from Edwards? AND, does all this mean that Rielle and John aren't in love anymore?

You don't know much about the law. Stop watching soap operas and go to the library (big building with books).

You don't know much about the law. Stop watching the TV (your little box with Black and White moving pictures) and learn that the campaign finance law does not permit John Edwards to pay his mistress for sexual services with campaign funds donated by his naive democratic supporters.

@plantbrain

Seriously, your questions about mistresses testifying and common-law marriage are idiotic. Those topics are Pre-Law 101, perhaps even 9th grade Civics. Are you still in the 7th grade?

I never cared for Edwards. He reminded me too much of Clinton and Bush Junior, another Southerner with that sly look and shit-eatin' grin--like some kind of TV preacher or used car salesmen.

It shouldn't matter which party a politician is from for us to feel angry if s/he is a hypocrite in espousing values they betray and/or if that person uses campaign funds in ANY direction other than those prescribed by law.

I don't care if it's Edwards or Ensign, Jefferson with cash in his freezer or Sanford in Argentina. A jerk is a jerk and we should vote them out of office. We need smart, ethical leaders. If they're not, don't reward them with another term.
