After Hillary

Kennedy Popularity Nosedives

Bad news for Caroline Kennedy’s campaign to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate. A new poll out today finds her popularity has taken a “major hit,” with 44 percent of New York voters saying they have a lesser opinion of her now than they did before she started making noises about going to Washington. In a faceoff with state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, 58 percent (and 54 percent of Democrats) prefer him over Kennedy; a month ago, Cuomo was the top choice for just 23 percent of Democrats. Fortunately for Kennedy, this Senate seat isn’t up to New York voters—it’s Gov. David Paterson’s opinion that matters most.

And the percentage of registered Republicans in New York? About 44%. So all that's happened here is that Republicans are, as usual, being partisan. "She's our enemy now" they think, and thus their opinion of her declines. So much for open-mindedness.

oh please, im a democrat and i do not approve of her being my senator. and actually, many many democrats that i know also wonder who she thinks she is fooling. im sorry, but just because her last name is kennedy doesn't mean she can just waltz in and become a senator. what has she done to earn this position?

The public? Who cares what they think? The governor has to worry about what he's going to do for a living when he leaves office in two years. Drugs and the ladies don't come cheap.
