Kennedy Skirts Disclosure
Getting to know Caroline Kennedy is proving harder than we would have imagined. After being criticized for avoiding press interviews, Kennedy “is declining to provide a variety of basic data, including companies she has a stake in and whether she has ever been charged with a crime,” reports The New York Times. Kennedy’s spokesman said that, should she be appointed, she’ll make all necessary disclosures, but some, like the director of a nonpartisan watchdog group, argue that “Precisely because there is no campaign or election, she should be more willing to disclose and subject herself to a greater level of public scrutiny than is required.” A professor from NYU adds, “To the extent she can be more transparent, she dispels the notion that it’s all about her name.”

Give me a break! Caroline wants public and political opinion to be based solely on her name and families reputation. She wants to be appointed without complying, without dealing honestly and without abiding by the rules. She doesn't have to. She is a Kennedy; as she let everyone know simply by dropping her married name. She is a Kennedy and therefore entitled to make the rules as she goes, change them or not. She is a Kennedy from a family riddled with scandal. It is all about her name. She is not going to fully disclose anything even if forced to: it would land her in jail.
Teddy's not long for the world it seems. It would upset the natural order of things if there wasn't a Kennedy in the Senate. And better Caroline than one of the drunken, womanizing male members of the clan, right?
She's got the juice to do a good job. Political capital. I'm not a big fan, personally, but she's got juice.
Who cares who she invested in or whether she was ever arrested. Seriously, she's not a big people person, but she's got power That she might wield for the citizenry of my fair state.
It's only til; 2010 anyways, and then again in 2012. A cruel fate!
