Madoff Client Commits Suicide

It seemed like only a matter of time: One of Bernard Madoff's clients has reportedly committed suicide. Rene-Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, manager of the hedge fund Access International Advisers, was found dead early today in his Manhattan office. De la Villehuchet lost $1.4 billion to Madoff, and a source close to him has told the French business daily La Tribune that it was a suicide.

Perhaps leftygoleft can find a tear or two for the hundreds of thousands of poor, sick, and disabled whose support systems have been wiped out by Madoff. Or perhaps for the people whose jobs are gone now or those who must try to sell their homes. We're all connected, lefty, and if you can't manage some outrage on behalf of Madoff's victims or some sympathy for those who are suffering, try not to embarrass yourself by overlooking the breadth of impact from this fraud.

This is an awful addition to the list of Madoff victims. There are honest money managers in the world, and some of them feel a sense of remorse and guilt when they lose their clients money. I hate to speculate to the specifics of this case, but I would feel horrible if I had invested other people's money into Madoff's scheme.

Before Madoff sees the inside of a jail cell, he will open doors into the Wall Street underbelly that has seen little light of day.

HEDGE FUND UNDERBELLIES WILL SURFACE AT MADOFF & Co. TRIALS

From New York to Geneva, corruption is rampant and complex on Wall Street, including the process of accumulation of this much cash..
