McNair's Girlfriend Bought the Gun
The death of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair might be getting less mysterious: Police announced today that the gun found beneath the body of Sahel Kazemi was bought by the 20-year-old two days prior to the incident. Kazemi was found fatally shot on Saturday afternoon along with the former MVP. Although McNair's death has been ruled a homicide, police have yet to classify Kazemi's death, and are awaiting the results of forensic tests. The married father of four had supposedly been dating Kazemi—whose ex-boyfriend was recently questioned, but is not currently a suspect—for several months, and even had a Cadillac Escalade registered in both their names. The pistol was purchased just hours after Kazemi had been pulled over in the Escalade and charged with driving under the influence. McNair, who had been with her at the time, was allowed to leave the scene in a taxi.

I, for one, would like to teach children to have more TOLERANCE for those who have different values and more PATIENCE for those who disappoint us to refrain from violence.
I don't see how tolerating cheating on your wife and kids helps. If I was his friend or family member, McNair would have been clear about my disapproval of his lifestyle. Now, two people are dead and a wife is a widow and 4 children are fatherless.
Also, you are saying "thou shalt not kill".
1) I meant to refrain from public judgment of private actions as opposed to finger-pointing and tongue clucking in disapproval of others' problems.
2) of course I meant we must not kill! DUH!
You do see the distinction in importance between adultery and murder, right?
This story just proves the point that if you're rich and famous you should just go with strippers: they know how to be cool about your having a wife and they're not going to kill you because they're only in it for the money.

How did she buy a gun? The legal age to purchase a firearm is 21 in Tennessee.

Why does the media keep referring to this girl as McNair's girlfriend? He was married. Wouldn't that make her his mistress? I noticed Governor's Sanford's Argentina mistress is never referred to as his "girlfriend". Why the double standard?

RIP to him. My heart to his family. That being said, he carries a lot of the blame for playing with the mind of an unstable 20-year-old. Whether he knew that she was unstable is irrelevant. At her age, she probably knew a little about sex, and about booze. After all, that's all you see on TV. And in magazines. And the internet. How about teenage girls "sexting?" Only last year, she was a teenager! And he plied her with booze, even though she was underage.
She knew nothing about life. She was just too young to know that you get jilted repeatedly before you find the right one.
The rest of the blame goes to a society that permits a 20-year-old to casually purchase a gun (any gun!) like she's buying a TV.
The girl gets no blame in my book.
Excuse me, they can drink wine and beer here at 16. Not a problem for hard liquor at 18 because they are expected to serve in the army and vote. No problems there either. I go to the fete de vandanges in Neuchatel, and come back on the bus finishing my bottle of red wine, no problems there either. American drinking laws create binge drinkers and promote drunken teens.
I look around me every day and see the evidence for myself. I have learnt to seriously dislike prohibitionists. A glass of red a day is actually good and healthy for you.
My 18 year old niece was teased today about going on the council like the rest of the family. Don't shovel out this crap about 19 year olds being so ingnorant. They are only ignorant because America likes to keep them that way. They are perfectly able to handle responsibility if you raise them for it, instead of keeping them as irrisponsible and immature brats.

I live in Nashville. The news stories on the gun she purchased are saying the gun was bought illegally. Buying an illegal gun in a guns and god state like Tennessee takes about two minutes. Anybody who wants a gun can get a gun. Plus, NOW they can carry them in bars. When I first heard the story, that is exactly what I thought happened. Someone in a bar had shot McNair. I am still thinking it might be the boyfriend and that is why they are not announcing her cause of death.
Anybody who wants to BREAK EXISTING GUN LAWS can buy one.
I might point out that 18 year olds are issued a fully automatic weapon which they are expected to keep in their house, as a part of their military obligation. We have no problems from them.
Ah, found some references in newspapers to "a person", who was not named, that had sold Kazemi the gun. From the Tennesseean:
Kazemi bought the semi-automatic pistol on Thursday evening from a person Nashville police have not named. She made the purchase the same day she was bailed out of jail by McNair for a DUI charge. Both were found dead less than 48 hours later, in a condo McNair rented.
There is nothing wrong with having a gun. It's what you do with it that counts.
That's true. Knives, hardware store goods, all kinds of other instruments are dangerous if used in a violent way. Behavior is the issue.

She probably flipped when they got pulled over, SHE got busted, HE probably blurted out drunken things that pulled all those puzzling "why aren't we making wedding plans" pieces going through her head together, she decided she wasn't taking the wrap for him....sad what low self esteem and delusion do to people.
