Obama: Still Time for Climate Deal
Climate change we can believe in? President Obama assured the world on Thursday that there was still time to bring developing nations on board for greenhouse-gas reduction, after China and India rejected the goal of reducing their emission by half by 2050. In a speech, Obama told emerging economies to “fight the temptation toward cynicism.” "There is no contradiction between environmentally sustainable growth and robust economic growth," he said. "We can either shape our future or we can let events shape it for us." President Obama also announced that "The United States has sometimes fallen short of meeting our responsibilities. Let me be clear, those days are over." The emerging economies are guests at the G-8 summit, and are pushing for full inclusion.

There will be a climate big deal without doubt. The climate generator of the earth is going to dictate the deal. We still seem to think we are going to make that deal work.

If Obama is ever going to get anything going on climate change, he has to get his own house in order. Right now he's down preaching to the G-8, all the time being a hypocrite.
I checked with PSO Elec. and if I generate more energy than I use, its free to PSO, they don't have to pay anything for it! If it comes my way, they charge. If it goes their way, it's free !
If you deceide to go with the two separate systems. One system from my generators directly into the power grid, they buy it for $00.037 per kWh. Then the regular system; them providing me with electricity, they charge me $6.52 perkWh. That's $6.50 difference per kWh for the same electricity I put in the grid.
Obama is a fool if he allows this highway robbery to exist. Barrack "Bush" Obama needs to walk the walk, he's just full of hot air otherwise.
When I checked into it locally they didn't want to give me a permit for the turbine, they would not pay for me to generate electricity but if I generated any the meter would run backwards, essentially letting me "bank" electricity for times when solar or wind didn't generate any. They weren't sure about the permit, electric co. insisted they send an engineer out to OK my connection to the grid, at no charge of course, they told me. So basically, this is not for the little people, this is for the country and the future and the climate and anything but letting the little guy work out a system and profiting from it. Imagine that!
which state Squig?
Ohio
PSO is home Officed in Ohio.
Major Bummer!
Better a hypocrite then a cynic. At least a hypocrite HAS standards to fail to live up to.
Environmentalists are kind of doomed from the beginning to be hypocrites, as there is no such thing as a "green" modern life, but at least they aim for something better.
Don't mock the tree-huggers. They may yet save us all.
Better a hypocrite? Ya, I remember having a conversation with a wide eyed boyfriend years ago about how bad Mercedes cars are to the environment, he said, while driving his Buick. Duh? Make like Gandhi and set the example or in his case, get a bike. Or, in your case, get a job as a scientist and change the world from the inside.
It is completely disingenuous and hypocritical to tell third world countries what to do about climate and environmental issues. Hypos are worse, ALWAYS!

Until we get rid of the electric utility flesh eaters, and the bastards that regulate them, we're f **** d. Bush, I mean Obama is just like Boner and his ilk. Can't tell the truth. If it wasn't for Pelosi, Bush, I mean Obama would sell us down the river like Sanford, without a paddle.

Obama doesn't seem concerned with people, just legislation. We are going broke, individuals and country and all he can do is push for the world to accept green technology so we can produce it and ship it to the world, for a price! I can't believe he has bought into the crap Gore has marketed but rest assured the world has not and they are not going to buy into giving the US a new market either! How about cutting costs with basics and letting the market take care of itself!

That's been done for 30 years, since the days of Reagan and Thatcher. It has failed.
I'm with you until you get away from regulation.
Sparky is right, regulation is so key and that is the one thing Obama is not doing, at all, the Fed runs the world anyhow but damn, at least regulate them here so they don't usury us to death!
Gore is a likeable enough guy and possibly has some good Ideas but he has lived high off the hog and suddenly when he gets religion, thinks everyone else needs to get it too. Another pet peeve! I, too, am quite annoyed that we are going broke. No one is minding the store and these guys just run around from forum, to conference, to summit blathering on!
The idea of a Green Bank is a good one, and I hope the Senate does not remove that provision from the bill. What we really need is some kind of national investment and development bank that can fund all types of green projects, like wind, solar, gepthermal, high speed rail, mass transit, and new research into all kinds of advanced technologies that will be friendlier to the environment.
I'm not so sure about the pollution credits in cap and trade, and how they will stimulate the economy and provide jobs and investment, although they will be a big windfall for those buying, selling and trading them. But how will it help the economy, create jobs, and invest in the new technologies that we say we want?
What in the hell do you think the Fed is? It's the bank of the world, all the countries have them, they loan gov'ts and other banks money and do we ever pay that money back? Hell no! We just get taxed to death to pay the flippin interest! We've got to market global warming to the world in order to pay the interest on the debt we have incurred. I know Bush ran it up with the war, but Obama has nearly quadrupled it before he got the GDP figured out and now he is PR ing the world with this green stuff so we will have a place to sell things again! Lord, the Fed is driving us to the poor house and Wall St. is giving out bonuses. DO THE MATH PEOPLE!!!!!!
