Obama’s First Crisis?

North Korea Military parade missiles

Might this be the world crisis that, during the campaign, Joe Biden warned about? The Times of London reports that “North Korea is preparing to test fire a long range missile capable of striking the United States.” South Korean officials claim to have seen satellite images of a long cylindrical object being transported, by train, through the North Korean countryside. It is believed that the test will not happen for another month or two, and that the missile is a Taepodong-2, which is capable of striking Hawaii or Alaska. Meanwhile, Iran is also looking beyond Obama's initial honeymoon period: they launched a homemade satellite.

The scapegoating begins already.
The president is the one who creates foreign policy, the secretary of state carries it out.
It's failure or success lies squarely with the president and no one else.
It's called taking responsibility for your actions, not Obama's strong suit.

Simply shortsightedness.Lookes like a decision? based on unfounded fear, complacency and a misguided mission of a closed, dictatorial mind. Why the hell, now, NK plans to test the 'target reach' of its long range missile ? What will it achieve?

That Obama has remarkably shown some 'change' in foreign affairs thinking, declaring' America a friend to all' and mostly talking in a positive and 'understanding tone' , it will be wiser on part of NK to see things in a new light and try something positive and 'new'.
Anyway a hungry man can't have muscles for long. When
many in the country are dying out of hunger, a substantial
military buildup and its maintainance for long may not be practically possible.Certainly NK is not seeing the wild dream of becoming globe's supreme military power, only to conquer the whole earth? Practically it can't. So why waste money, time and energy for something so unproductive.? Especially when the world's super power is explicitly talking of understanding, friendship and progress?
If NK fails to read the new opportunity that the new trend and time offers and still sits tight with a ' clinched fist' and 'closed mind' and acts senseless, its vision on progress and people's welfare will never move beyond a short range.
When democracy is spreading all around, some people can still tolerate a benovolent dictator for sometime. But never a violent one, out to invite disaster for its own people, without being provoked.
