Obama's Russia Trip Ends

President Obama rushed through a packed schedule at the Russia Summit on Tuesday, marking another productive day, as he delivered a graduation speech at the New Economic School, met with members of Russian non-profit groups, and spent time with political opposition leaders, like chess champion Garry Kasparov. The president has now retired for the night, USA Today reports, and when he wakes early tomorrow morning, he'll head to the G8 summit in Italy—and the Russia visit will head into the history books. And it's likely to be a positive account: his visit—during which he accomplished a reduction in nuclear arms stockpiles and a compromise on Afghanistan--has received largely positive reviews.

Plantagenet

Its time for Obama to stop showboating around the world and to come home and fix the US economy. He's already admitted that his administration "misread" the economic data and the result of his failure to understand the economy has been an explosion in deficit spending and the loss of millions American jobs instead of the millions of new jobs he promised.

You're right. The things outside of this country are not in any way important. The economy should be #1 on his mind at all times.

Just like FDR's administration ignoring the outside world during the Great Depression.

Wait... weren't we invaded? Oh that could never happen today...

The stimulus money has been sent to the states (at least the ones whose governors haven't tried to block it to gain popularity with the rich). They need to spend the money to make some jobs in construction, education healthcare (the last two of which are actually growing sectors of the economy). Here's the site to check on where our money is going:

(you can even check out county by county)

Nice & simple. A lot better than the WPA, huh?

Also, deficit spending on things like education, healthcare, and infrastructure are considered to be good investments with multiplier effects unlike, say, deficit spending to finance a war or tax cuts to the rich.

Take a deep breath and relax. The Stim hasn't completely been put in place yet. It takes a while for this Tanker-of-an-economy to turn around and get moving in the right direction. These summits are important in that they get the world economy working together. Yesterday, people were complaining that the Prez was doing too much and now people are complaining that he is doing too little. Too some of us, reducing nukes around the world is a good thing!

It's cool, man, some people just like to complain. (they also love to get off topic and start an argument to distract from an accomplishment of our President)

Actually, I applaud Obama's trip. He is finally doing something that is directly in the President's job description - foreign policy.

I know, right?
The establishment party totally made fun of him and called him names during the last election!

Great trip, good times.

Michelle & the girls had a blast wowing the Russians.

Nuclear Armageddon slightly less likely.
Our President faced down Medvedyev and Putin, looked in their eyes, came out ahead, and even promoted a little free & open society in the face of one that kills its journalists.

Always gotta watch the Russians, though.

Especially now that we don't have Palin protecting the Alaskan border.
