Palin Emails Leaked

Turns out you don’t need to put a teenage hacker on trial in order to read Sarah Palin’s emails: CBS News has gotten its hands on some emails that show “just how frustrated then Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin had become with the manner in which top McCain aides were handling her candidacy.” When reports leaked of her husband Todd’s relationship to the secessionist Alaska Independence Party, Palin sent an email to top aides Steve Schmidt, Rick Davis, and Nicolle Wallace saying "it’s bull.” Schmidt instructed Palin to “ignore it,” but she wasn’t satisfied, inventing a story to justify his membership in the party: "[Secession is] not part of their platform and he was only a 'member' bc independent alaskans too often check that 'Alaska Independent' box on voter registrations thinking it just means non partisan. He caught his error when changing our address and checked the right box. I still want it fixed." (There is no “Alaska Independent” box on the ballot.) Schmidt was annoyed, replying. “The statement you are suggesting be released would be innaccurate. The innaccuracy would bring greater media attention to this matter and be a distraction. … We will not put out a statement and inflame this and create a situation where john has to adress this."

Sarah Palin
Has a temperament problem.

It will ruin her political chances of achieving
Anything outside the state of Alaska.

I always take the reportng on pols with a grain of salt. unfortunately the timeing of this coincides with the partisan bickering of the former McCain camp and Palin. So, who of the other three addressees either leaked this to the Press or to another campaign operative who leaked it?

Whether she was rationalizing or repeating what Todd told her, she is being portrayed rather successfully as lacking in finesse. Schmidts advice was spot on.

Several months ago, I thought she was pretty harmless.

But, with all these recent stories, I'm realizing you people (I'm looking at you Daily Beast/Huffington) are truly frightened of her.

Tina, are you going to do a special "marital advice" column on this one?

This gets funnier and funnier.....

I'm only afraid
That she won't run.
There's almost nothing as enticing
As the thought of the pure spectacle she
Would create as she tried to become
A 'serious' candidate for national office.
Her thin skinned defensiveness
Combined with Tina Fey
Would keep us entertained
Beyond our wildest dreams.

Hey, lefty, lest you forget, she already was a serious candidate for national office. I know you probably didnt realize there was another party running for election last year, what with the media forgetting to cover anything but what Obama did.

If the democratic party was not afraid of her, you would forget about her. Period. Uncle Joe has way more gaffes than Palin and on a regular basis and yet you dont seem to think about them much. Hmmm.

motrbotr, this is NOT a Democrats or Republican issue (nor is it about gaffes). I don't associate myself with either party. This is about a tabloid-type personality who has a massive following......a following that really wants to see her as our next President. I'll forget about her once she either:

A. Significantly increase her competence on worldly issues or

B. Informs us that she will never run for President

until then we should all keep exposing her for the joke she really is.

No one on the planet is afraid of her, except maybe the RNC who realizes that any political campaign that she would run would absolutely ruin what's left of the party. Ms. Palin is the political version of Paris Hilton, continually finding a way to keep her name in the news, she obviously craves attention. If she'd concentrate on Alaska and her family, her name would stay out of the press. I hate her phony family values platform, As a mother of six - I know what it takes to work and take care of a large family and it doesn't involve huge political campaigns on the national stage. If you've noticed Hillary Clinton only has one child and doesn't pretend to be a "super mom" and she didn't run for public office until her daughter was grown. Of course Ms. Palin doesn't dare wait until she's older because her biggest political tool is her looks. If Ms. Palin does run for president, I predict one of the biggest political scandals in the history of our country to errupt.

unfortunately, she can blame the failure on the McCain camp "mishandling" her candidacy (even though they did an excellent job for the first few weeks to hid her COMPLETE INSANITY) and now she can spread out her 15 minutes for the next four years. yipee

To Tigerjack and others who labor under the illusion that Democrats are "afraid" of Palin, or otherwise "threatened" by her alleged popularity, NO ONE is fearful of Mrs. Palin. She has demonstrated neither the intellect, sophistication or behavior to render anyone afraid of her political power. She's destined for late night talk show jokes and a job at Fox network.

No surprise that there is yet another story about Palin pushing on a small issue at the expense of the big picture and McCain's success, narcissisticly entangled in personal issues at the expense of the campaign, employing questionable ethics -- and lying if it "suits".

Won't it be interesting to read Palin's version of the campaign and see how she handles FACTS like these emails? Will she re-interpret them or ignore them?

The lady is her own worst enemy. This has nothing to do with CBS, the liberal media, or aliens. This is Sarah being Sarah. She holds every slight near and dear, and will even the score come hell or high water. If the GOP continues to answer political criticism by using this female, the Democrats will be happy. The sooner she is disavowed, the sooner the party can begin to rebuild.

You're right, zippy, we don't want a secessionist in the White House. We want a Communist who believes in growing government, destroying the middle class, and developing a political elite. Oh wait, we already have one of those.

Imbuing Obama with false aspirations or intentions (seriously, he wants to "destroy the middle class?) will not give your policy criticisms of his administration much weight.

Vinny you are confusing communism with socialism. Obama is more of a spread the wealth socialist. I've never heard him spout the "from those according to their ability, to those according to their need" line that typifies communists, although many of his policies point in that direction. I think socialism is a broader term that is more applicable. On an unrelated subject, I also think he has a bit of a hard-on for the old colonial powers, due to his father's history in Africa. His treatment of the UK has been downright foolhardy.

as for the political elite, there were here before , they are here now, they will be here tomorrow. It's just the way it is.

and the middle class is just changing, a few will drop out, others will drop in. We'll see if his policies are good or bad or disastrous.

I have a feeling the GOP just doesn't know what to do with her just yet and is waiting for some kind of sign to tell them whether to give her a nudge forward or a shove back. Their fingers are in the wind, but nothing's blowing at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if the RNC themselves leaked the email just to churn the air a little bit and see how the public reacts. The dems don't take her seriously, but she's fun to talk about, just like Dittoheads get their jollies ripping on Hillary.

I don't ever recall a VP candidate (who lost) getting this much attention in the press. Especially from a state that is under the radar for many. John Edwards was rumored to have been having an affair and the media wouldn't go near it until a tabloid did what news people used to do; break the story. Even after his mistress had a child (Probably Edwards, but no one really knows), there wasn't much press. All this while his wife was battling cancer. There's also rumors on the internet about a sex tape with Edwards and his mistress. Will the press investigate? Not as long as there's hard hitting news about Governor Palin's disagreements with the campaign manager. Yawn.....

szippy29 is just about the only poster to actually comment directly on the essence of the article. The fact is that Todd Palin was knowingly a member of an organization that promoted sucession of Alaska from the U.S. How patriotic is that! And then Palin has the gall to promote her politics as that of "True Americans". The same criticism applies to Gov. Perry of Texas and of all the Texans who mouth off about sucession (which, in fact, is no longer a legal option, though it once was).

Sarah, and her hubby, are redneck neo-cons who aren't happy unless they are a-feudin' and a-fightin', a-breedin' them babies and a-killin' those animals. Todd, a seccessionist, does NOT want Alaska to be in the UNITED States of America. He does not want to be a citizen of the country where his wife ran for Vice-President. IOW, he and his seccessionist buddies want to DISUNITE and breakup America. Who, exactly, is it that is "palling around with terrorists"???

She was never a "serious" cantidate anywhere outside Alaska, and I am beginning to doubt her ability to carry on even there, now that she has been exposed as an idiot.

I firmly believe that if she would have had to endure the entire primary season, she would have either imploded under her own hubris, or have been crushed by a legitimate "serious" cantidate.

Being popular does not equate to being "serious", or in her case, even being taken seriously. I admit that for some strange reason that continues to elude me to this day, a lot of people like her, yet I refuse to believe that all, or even most of the people who like her would like to see her elected to a prominent national office such as President or even Vice President, that wouldjust be too dangerous.

My Father for one, absolutely loves this woman, but when all jest is set aside, he admits that he would never vote for her to be President. Heck, I like chocolate, but I've never written it in on a national ballot.

I do believe the emails, and I do believe the stories printed in the recent Vanity Fair, among others. Not because of any political ideology, but because we have all seen her rediculous behavior for ourselves.

I believe that she is NOT politically savvy, I believe she is NOT knowledgable on national or world affairs and I believe she is NOT intelligent enough to even hire people smart enough to cover for her in an adequate manner.

If she were to ever be elected President, or even Vice President, this nation would crumble and all of out buildings would collapse under the sheer weight of the laughter coming from the rest of the planet, because we have proven, once and for all, that Americans are the shallowest and least intelligent people on the planet. Not that we really are, but if we were to elect this woman, we would never be able to prove different to anyone else, ever.

Ritarita we are now watching "disastrous results" directly from the White House. I for one am not laughing. What this President has done in a mere six months is of colossal inexperience. We are sure to be witness of the worst to come. I thought Bush was a failure but it took longer than six months to figure that out. Palin is not right for the GOP nor any other party for that matter. The left is intimidated by her for some very odd reason. Oh yeah! If the rest of the country followed Texas"s lead we would not be in the economic straits that we are in. Texas has been and always will be a conservative state that always has its stuff together. You mention Gov. Perry because he could have a successful run at the White House and get results.

Todd the secessionist
Perry was also suggesting secession.

conservative?
Ann Richards (Democrat) Governor Jan. 15, 1991- Jan 17, 1995 (Texas' Golden Years)
Accomplishments: Ann Richards oversaw a revival of the state's economic fortunes. She stressed government efficiency by authorizing comprehensive audits of every state agency. She focused on education as well, introducing site-based management to put more power in the hands of the parents and teachers at the campus level. In the area of law enforcement, Richards increased prison space, cut the release of violent offenders, introduced a substance abuse program in Texas prisons, and opposed the sale of assault weapons and "cop-killer" bullets. Richards was also noted for her unprecedented appointments of women and minorities to important posts.
