Palin Follows Sanford, Ensign

HP Main - GOP Suicides
AP Photos

With Sarah Palin’s surprise announcement that she’s resigning, she joins the ranks of Mark Sanford and John Ensign as once-promising 2012 contenders who have disappointed their party. Can Palin bounce back from her bewildering, much-panned Friday evening resignation announcement? Only time will tell. In the meantime, pundits, are left speculating and dissecting the fallen star. Mostly notably NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell, who said that Palin has “had it” with politics.

The liberal Palin-haters over at TDB must be freaking right now. The British chick who runs TDB clitoris has probably dropped on the floor with this news.

You have been predicting the end of SP for how long now? And she is still in the news........

If ya'll pay attention to the text of her speech, and listen about the

"millions of dollars go down the drain in this new political environment" and her reference to "the full court press picking away at the national level" and "political bloodsport" and giving her reasons "candidly and truthfully" and avoiding "allowing millions of dollars to go to waste just so I can hold the title of governor"

I reckon ya'll can see that she's trying to avoid a bigger problem. I reckon she's referring to at least one investigation into her actions as governor. I reckon she might not have served out her term regardless of today's announcement...

Her speech was no better then the one she gave to Katie Couric a little under a year ago . It was full of non-sequiters and at this point I don't know whether to laugh at her or feel sorry for her and I hope this episode finds it's way into a movie scriptit would certainly be a must watch.

I bet something real juicy story has dot her playing defense otherwise I do't know why she would resign, as much as I hate to say it she did have a bright future in the (soon to be deunct) GOP. Also I bet their is more story to come out over the Mark Stanford scandel. But you can find me laughing all the way at how inept the GOP is

Wow,fascinating,it is just fascinating what she does to people. a true candidate. After being called slut, verbally abused, her family made the joke of America, and stabbed by the jeolosy of her own party Oh I think she is on the way to the top. no one is bumping Obama for the next 8 years no one,But she certainly is a force out there.AND WOMEN,you can hate her politics, but why allow all these houndogs, to chew her up.Let me say I do not like her, and certainly would not vote for her.But my hat goes off to her. AND ALOT of people, the more she is attacked, the bigger all those who hate her make her.!!!She has the thick skin of a real candidate.

Just because she's female I shouldn't allow anyone to say that she's a bleeding moron/embarrassment? BS! That's about as backwards/sexist as you can get...her insecurities and thin-skin are glaringly apparent...I'll vote for the woman candidate when she's the best qualified , not because she's a "she."

"she joins the ranks of Mark Sanford and John Ensign as once-promising 2012 contenders who have disappointed their party"

Amazing how liberal journalists already know who Republicans want as their candidate in 2012. Apparently, it's whoever making the headlines that day.

I'm a conservative in Reno. Ensign is my senator. I had no idea he was considering a presidential bid and never thought he would make a good pick. Sanford is as charismatic as Ben Stein. Palin, only selected because of her gender, is still in the game, but she wouldn't have been nominated, because Democrats will do everything in their power to keep the female vote. That means DESTROYING Palin. Letterman's attack was just the start.

The only one who can beat Obama is Obama. And he's overreaching at the moment. Just look at the polls. Experience matters. Bush, Obama, Palin. All inexperienced. All cozy with Big Business. Spineless, like all politicians.

Can we elect a Leader, please?

Please let Willard run, then you can really take the beating you deserve with your anti-average person views, hypocrasy, stealing from the poor, etc. The GOP is dead, along with its' ruinous approach to governing.

The Republicans' chances of taking the Presidency in 2012 are directly related to Obama's propensity to veer to the left. Jimmy Carter was very popular in 1976 and Ronald Reagan was a loser. Four years later Ronald Reagan was the President and Jimmy Carter was (and still is) a loser. Liberals know this. That's why they're in a frenzy to destroy Sarah Palin.

Andrea Mitchell should know. He husband got out at just the right time after playing a major role in destroying our economy. However, his ace-in-the-hole was his wife being a member of the media. The cut him a brake, and turned their sights on an easy target like Palin. Palin was late night fodder; investigating Greenspan required serious work and an understanding of our financial system. Most "journalists" are lazy and lack the discipline to take on a public figure that wasn't mentioned on Letterman. The only one without a financial background who did this successfully is Matt Taibi of Rolling Stone. Charlie Gasparino does a great job, but he's more in the financial mix.

Did you just say that the media is lazy and biased and aren't very smart?

Greenspan is a big part of the problem. He was asleep at the wheel. (No offence intended to the musical group) Bernanke needs to take a hike too.

Why is Governor Palin tied in with these two adulterous senators? Apples and oranges here folks, unless the author knows something the rest of the country doesn't. Where are the femenists on this? Dis she cheat on her husband? Did she travel to another continent to see her "soul mate?" The women's rights groups silence is deafening on how this woman is treated. A bunch of hypocrites.

The G.O.P. is better off without them. It needs younger, smarter and more worldly blood. If they don't become more socially progressive as a party within the next 10 to 15 years they are going to die. And the country can't run without the full political spectrum. (Which means at LEAST 2 parties, though I'd love it if we had more then that.)
